Cafes like
When I was in Buenos Aires, I really liked Café Clásica y Moderna in Recoleta.
www.clasicaymoderna.com Does anyone know of other cafes or clubs that are similar, with good live-music offerings, good food, and a pleasant atmosphere? |
Bar Dadá
Hi all,
Just found this thread. I meant to look up something else entirely tonight, but have been scrolling through various pieces of the thread and I'm just smiling ear to ear. I am crazy about Bs. As. and will be living there someday - maybe not this year, but before the next one is done. I don't suppose there's a subthread on work visas? :> I searched to make sure I wasn't posting things that you've all already mentioned - most of my picks have already been noted! But I also really liked Bar Dadá, just around the corner from the Marriott Plaza in city center. It's not a music venue but the food is delish and I love the environment. I had a tower of steak one night, a sublime pasta another night, and skipped right to dessert another night - never disappointed. Good wine selection by the glass. What I also liked is that I sat at the bar by myself and people struck up conversations with me. It was a relaxed but hip vibe, one that I'll check out again when I get back! ^ |
Single day in BA, with a shower!
I'll be arriving EZE with my wife on a Saturday morning at 940a, then leaving from AEP at 625p . Before a recent schedule change, this transfer was far more reasonable... but now we've got a decent chunk of time.
We'll be fairly well-rested (arriving in C), so sleeping all day isn't a priority, but getting a shower is critical - there are a few things I just can't get her to compromise on. So, any advice out there on a relatively simple/affordable way to get a shower? I expect that this may require simply booking a hotel room - if so, any reccs on what you would choose that is centrally located (minimize time spent riding in cabs) and affordable so that we can get in, shower, leave our bags, and have a few hours left for some beef and walking around? |
I see from your profile that you are a UA flyer... are you coming in on United...? I havent flown them for years, but I gather that Arrivals by United is a program that has been discontinued..??

Hmmm.... in that case it would seem that your only option is to find a relatively inexpensive hotel in the 3 star category somewhere near the sights you want to see in town and use that as your base of operations for the day.
One key issue is that you will need a hotel that will give you an early check-in... else it may not be doable for you. Im afraid I cant think of any leads to hotels that would be a match for what you are looking for... |

Check over on Trip Advisor.... they have a decent forum setup for Argentina and some of the regulars over there may have a good lead or two.

If you just need a place to shower and change, probably your best bet is a telo.

The only bad thing is that a Telo is not efficient to store your bags... but it does have other advantages... ;) :D |
BTW....
telo = by the hour motel not sure what you call these in the States..... nor if they even exist... :o |
I'd head straight to AEP by taxi, and see if you could check in. If not, I believe you can still store your luggage there at something like 6 pesos for 12 hours. That way you won't be encumbered for the rest of the day.
BTW telos are very common and quite respectable. The other option might be to see if you can pay to use the gym at a hotel. We don't need telos in the US since everyone has a car ;) John |
