update - all went well!

Thanks for you reply Gaucho,
In the end I risked it as the agent 'ebookers' were unwilling or unable to do anything other than cancel and part refund. They said this was the only option.

All went well, Air Europa and Aerolineas Argentina respectively both issued boarding cards for the whole journey at initial check in on both the outbound and inbound trips, which gave me degree of reassurance! I had thought, based on minor issues on previous trips, that the check in staff at EZE maybe more particular about the name error but all smiles and no questions. Wont be using ebookers again for future BA trips though as I felt that they were very rigid. All my calls were routed to a call centre ( possibly in India). The very same flights and prices are available through a numerouus other online agents here in the UK and I have had better customer service from Opodo and Lastminute in the past.

Cheers again.

Taxi advice requested

I arrive in EZE next week in the morning at about 8 a.m. Am I correct in assuming that the airport taxis are reliable--that is, that the meter is accurate? And about how much will it cost and how long will it take to get to the Sheraton Park Tower/Convention Center?

Also, can anyone recommend a good radio taxi company for getting around town and back to EZE?

Thanks!

You prepay at a booth inside EZE. The fares are fixed. Depending on the time you get out of the airport, I'd say approx. 45 minutes to the Sheraton. It could be longer.

I generally use Radio Taxi Premium and until recent experiences, they were very reliable. (The big problem was a flaw in their website's booking engine, so I'd suggest against it.) Other than very limited instance (like going back to EZE), I just get street taxis. I've only experienced one definite crook, so my "good odds" are about 99.5%+.

On the subject of airport transfers, for those wanting a luxury car service, contact Fred at Silver Star... the best choice in EZE for this type of Airport pick-up.

I've used Silver Star before, and have nothing but praise for them. Haven't had Fred and his Town Car yet, only Karina and the C4, and everything has been great. Sure, there are many, much cheaper options, but you can't beat Silver Star if you're willing to pay for the comfort and luxury. And when you're talking about a rush hour transfer from EZE to the city, that comfort is well worth the price.

How does he compare with dantes airport transfers?
We arrive this Sunday at 7:55am. Do I just tell the company our arrival time and let them work out how long it will take to clear customs?

Also, having UK passports exempts us from the Visa fee. Does that make passage from gate to street any quicker? Are there different lines in immigration for payers and non-payers?

Yes, there are different lines. It really depends on where your flight is coming from. I usually fly in from Chile and so there aren't that many people that need to pay on the flight. Last time I went to the "pay" line with my US passport, even though I already had paid (which had no wait). I'd imagine when there are flights arriving from the US and other directly affected countries that the % of passport holders that need to pay a fee would be much higher.

One inside tip to clear immigration in a second is to use the Crew/Diplomatic line.... it takes a big smile and some charm, but the odds are you will get taken care of if the line happens to be empty... :D

Dante and Silver Star are in different product categories. Silver Star is a premium product (their cars are upscale/luxury class).

I have never used Dante before, but from what Ive heard from customers and the feedback I read on other boards, he offers good service.

Bottom line: both are feasible options, it depends on what you are looking for. Also, depending on the size of your group, Silver Star may be a better option because the Town Car is a very large vehicle and will 'shlep' more people and cargo per trip....

6 hours at EZE

The temporary closing of AEP has us now landing at EZE on a Tuesday in November from FTE on Aerolinas, which appears to be historically on time for the most part. Our DL flight leaves at 9:30pm and we are in C for that leg. It appears not enough meaningful time to go into BA. Any suggestions for this 6 hour layover, I am assuming that 1. we will have to pick up our luggage from AA. 2 not be able to check it back in on DL till 6pm?. Any particular comfortable spots to "park" for a few hours at EZE?

Im afraid that I have another piece of bad news for you.... since you land in EZE instead of AEP, this means you will also have to pay the reciprocity fee... :(

6 hours at EZE

I would not think I would have to pay an entry fee on a domestic flight, I will have already paid it when we land 10 days earlier from the US. I was asking if there was a good spot to hang in the airport, we land at 3pm and I am assuming cannot check our bags back into our DL flight till 6pm or after which I am also assuming means we cannot get planeside to the airport lounges, although these posts say that none of them are very special. I guess flying DL we are allowed into the AMEX lounge?

The lounges aren't great, but their better than any of the alternatives at EZE. The US airline staff doesn't start showing up until 5 or so, American lets people start checking in by 5:30, not sure about Delta. You'll probably land in the domestic terminal, which is the older part of the airport. After you land you should head to the international terminal where the the Delta counter is located. While you wait for Delta to open head upstairs to the extreme end of the terminal, the part farthest away from the domestic terminal. There's a cafe up there with decent food, its the best choice because the tables are relatively spread out, its usually not too busy, and they have free wifi, ask your server for the wifi password.

DL ATL-EZE - anyone notice bassinets in use?

Hi all,

Heading to Buenos Aires this saturday and flying through ATL on Delta on a 767-400ER plane. We have a baby and supposedly are in line for a bassinet but I heard rumors that these planes don't actually have bassinets. Has anyone flown this flight lately (or the return flight) and noticed bassinets in use? Thanks!
