Sure, but I was screwed with a 10 peso note. I don't consider that to be a particularly large bill. The point is that cab drivers will, apparently, try to screw you out of even a small amount of money. Carrying small bills can help, but it doesn't eliminate the problem.

With respect also... the chances of bill swapping is much much lower if you only have $20 and the odd $50 peso note... its the $100 that are the ones to avoid.

Like I said above, not in our (limited, but very recent) experience. We were screwed out of a 100 and a 10.

I loved BA, I'm just saying that you need to really be wary of the cab drivers. The whole "radio taxis are safe" thing is hooey if you consider "safe" meaning you won't get ripped off.

^ I'll just be more careful next time. I wasn't paying enough attention and I learned my lesson. It can happen anywhere.

LOL, no, we're not the bodybuilders. We were in row 8, left side of the plane. Were you right behind the obnoxiously loud snorer??? That dude woke me up multiple times throughout the night.

I assume that left side means the AB side. We were on the right side (JK side). I didn't hear the obnoxiously loud snorer, probably because I was on the other side of the plane, with galley and curtains between us.

The bodybuilders were in row 8 on the JK side I believe. Perhaps you noticed them at some point, as they were both quite large and wearing shirts that were quite small.

At the RCC we escaped to the small little room with a tv (they were showing Tiger's round of golf), which was nice because the big room seemed really really crowded. That's probably why I missed you.

We saw the little room but didn't go in because it was also quite crowded relative to the total number of seats in there. We sat right outside the room (between the shopping bag lady and the bodybuilders).

So was that dinner "salad" gross, or what?

To make this post on point: folks, check your currency often!! We got ripped off by two cab drivers. One exchanged a good 100 for a bad one and another gave us a bogus 10. The hotel said this happens all the time with cabbies. You have to keep your eye on your bills at all time and make sure they don't do a switcheroo. We had been out, were a bit tipsy, and easy to take advantage of.

Not 100% sure if this makes the post on point...but my +1 was scammed out of 500 pesos on one of his few cab rides that I was not present for.

The driver alleged that the bill that +1 offered in payment was fake, and that the next bill offered was also fake. The driver then asked for +1's entire wallet, claimed that the bills were all fake, and in the process of "inspecting" the bills pocketed about five 100-peso bills. The driver suggested that +1 go to an ATM to get "real" money to pay for the ride, and drove to an ATM and pretended to wait while +1 took out money. But then the cab drove off for no apparent reason, and only later in the day did +1 discover that his wallet was missing 500 pesos, and realize that the cab driver had pocketed them during the wallet "inspection," before dumping +1 at the ATM and driving off.

Said obnoxious snorer woke me up at multiple times throughout the flight! Arg.

Oh, now I know who you're talking about. :) Yes, I did notice them.. they were, um, big.

Yeah it really was. I was happy that we had gotten a bite to eat at the hotel cafe before heading out to the airport, so I wasn't too hungry. I still ate it, but it was kind of nasty. UA's C product really needs to up the food quality. The seat is good, now fix the food.

Yikes! That really is terrible.

My sense in reading this thread is that these types of pickpocket/scam things were really bad for awhile, then got better over the last couple of years as the economy recovered, but now has gone down a bit as of late. A couple we met at the hotel had the "green spray" trick done to them. Someone sprayed a foul-smelling liquid on them and then came over to offer a handkerchief while trying to lift the couple's camera and wallet. The hotel wasn't surprised.. said it happens a lot.

Im very sorry for what happened to your +1 with this crooked taxi driver. However, I think it must be said that its probably not a good idea to let a complete stranger help you inspect your wallet.

Please do not take this the wrong way and I realize your +1 was taken advantage of and that he acted in good faith... but perhaps his actions were those of a rather unexperienced traveler. Only your own fingers and those of people you know & trust should go near your wallet, and IMO this applies not only to Buenos Aires.

I hope you and +1 still had a nice experience in EZE and choose to come back someday.

Cheers,

Delta Check in @ EZE

We are flying DL to EZE in May. Traveling business class and wondering about the return check-in back to the US and lounge access at EZE. We depart EZE at 8PM. From what I read on the boards we should arrive about 2 1/2 hours in advance to avoid any delays. Do the business/elite lines help out at all or does everyone get in the same line for security questions before check in.
Is there a business class lounge for Delta BE customers. Last report I read a while ago was that it was being remodeled.

Any information or advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Staying at the Hilton for 7 nights. Always up for some good restaurant suggestions too.
Thanks

If you are flying up front then IMO you dont need more than 90 minutes..... 2+ hours in advance is way too much.

The main banks of international flights leave later in the evening, so EZE should be relatively quiet when you check in. As an elite customer you should be through the initial security screen and check-in in a matter of minutes.

Tax payment and the WTMD/X-ray should also be quite fast (but depending on how many security stations are open), and maybe 20 minutes at most for immigration if there are only few booths open.

Flights to the US also have gate security where they inspect your carry-on luggage and shoes, and wand you body, but that's mainly for show.

Well, the gate security is where they confiscate your lethal water guns and dangerous lotion bombs, based on the US 3-1-1 rule.

Thanks. Any info on the business lounges? What lounge do DL customers use? I know they have an AF club, but is it near the DL departures?

EZE is a very small airport, so all the international airine lounges are within reasonable distance. If the AF lounge is the desginated area, you should we quite close to your departure gate.

They may use the AX lounge. There are 5 lounges, methinks:

UA RCC
AA AC
IB
Salon de la Basurero (or Salon de las Americas)
AX lounge (don't recall the name)

I have been in 4 of them. Bleh.
