His price has crept up to $30, but I suspect that's still cheaper than most options.

The other options are not much more on the EZE--> city direction. The reverse is cheaper with other services. I use Radio Taxi Premium. http://www.taxipremium.com/ in the city ---> EZE direction. They have always been on time to a bit early and polite/efficient. I haven't yet tried the online service. I don't know the current rates, because the peso has gone from approx 3.40 to 3.60 since I was last there (but you could expect approx. US$25.)

I use a local remise service (their office is 3 blocks from my apartment). Fare at the end of January was $78 (pesos) from Palermo to EZE.

The City to EZE option of using a large & established Radio Taxi company is a good one.... the top choices in this category are:

= Radio Taxi Premium
= Taxi Pidalo
= Radio Taxi Del Plata

Will be in EZE in early April staying at HIX. Will then fly to TUC and back to AEP 4/13) Have a flight out of EZE to U.S. on 4/14. Is there a hotel close to EZE, or do we head back to downtown area?

Thanks

There is one small (apparently decent) place near EZE - but since you are flying into AEP, you are right in the city- you might as well spend the night and (presumably) most if not all of the next day's sunlight hours before heading out to EZE.

Thanks for the reply.

Is AR from TUC-AEP dependable? We have the option of staying in TUC Mon. nite, but if the morning AR flight cancels, we would be unable to get back to AEP than EZE in time for 8p departure.

AR is never dependable.

I would definitely fly back to Bs As on April 13 to be on the safe side. With Aerolineas, anything is possible.

This is a wonderful thread. At 159 pages, I'm not even half way through. It seems that restaurants are the main event on these boards. Thank you all for the great listings/ratings of eateries!!!
Our trip to BA is end of April into May. We'll be staying at the Hilton in Puerto Madero. We booked a weekend at Iguazu. We'll take the high speed ferry to Colonia. Should we forget about a day trip to an estanzia? What about a simple tango show without a meal? I emailed the Teatro Colon to ask for their performance schedule for April. The response was in Spanish and I'm totally clueless!
I have some advice that may help avoid being robbed. We always use a code word to alert one another of suspicious strangers. We NEVER ride crowded buses or subways. I was robbed on a bus in Mexico City over 25 years ago. My purse was slit and my wallet stolen and by the time I realized what was happening the thieves were off the bus. Fortunately, I didn't have my money in my wallet! When I travel, my bra is the safest place!! Sometimes, it's a little awkward making change!!::D

Dear IncredibleDeals,
Enjoy the thread. As you can see, the prices of hotels have gone up considerably since the thread was started. However, the value of the dollar has continued to increase so BsAs is still an affordable destination.

you will love the people. They are wonderful.

I would say that the Hilton is a bit away from the walking part of the city, although it certainly has a lot going on around it.

As far as the tango goes... I'm going to send you a private message. I've broadcast the name of a wonderful tango hall, and gotten a "shhhhh" response from those in the know. Don't want to spoil it. Also you should plan to go late. Things don't get really going till about midnight, although if you want a seat, probably 11 pm is good enough of an arrival time. The tango is seductive to watch. If you want to understand it a bit better, go online and find some instructional videos. It will show you the basic steps so you can then appreciate some of the intricacies (sp?) that couples are able to add in. Both young and old mingle and it's a wonderful site to see.

Enjoy your trip. I'm unable to travel right now. So I will enjoy your trip vicariously.

Rita
PS, when in Buenos Aires buy your wine from Alex (aka Gaucho100)... support your local merchants.
