As of June 2014 Membership Rewards (USA) has implemented software which prevents linking of airline and hotel accounts for anyone who is not a cardholder on the American Express account. Please click HERE to read the new thread.

----------------------------------------

So far transfers from Membership Rewards USA to another's FFP have only been refused for:

Emirates

Transfer rules for American Express accounts issued in other countries are more restrictive.

No. All you need is the person's name and account number. You MUST do it on-line.

So based on the info in this thread....

My wife and children have some orphaned miles in DL, CO ect...

I can top off their accounts by transferring from my MR account into theirs (same last name & address FWIW) thus avoided losing miles from inactivity - correct?

As one posted mention, 'any accounts this won't work with'?

I'm interested in topping off some family member's Southwest accounts. Are people here saying that the following rule is not enforced, and I'll be able to do it without ordering additional cards? Thanks.

You may only convert points into the Southwest Rapid Rewards account held by you or an additional Cardmember linked to your account.

Was a while ago, but it did happen. Almost all transfers I do from MR have gone right away. I can only remember AC taking more time.

You can do it easily (and instantly) on the phone. I have done it, very hassle free.

You guys have more luck than me to ANA. I tried it in June 07 and it didn't work for me. I guess its possible the guy transferring to me made and error but I don't think so. Sounds like it generally works great though.

UK Plat card experience?

I need to transfer some MR points into my wife's BD account to keep it alive -- she is an additional card holder on my account.

Tried to do this online, but when I ask to add a new partner with existing FF account, it comes up with my name as default, and I can't seem to change it.

Tried to call Amex UK MR, but they're closed now.

Anyone have experience with doing this from a UK account?

thanks,

tb

UPDATE:
called AMex MR, and they said it is NOT possible to transfer MR points into a supplementary card holders' account. I know that this goes against what is says on FT, and was wondering whether anyone has anything to add, esp from a UK perspective?
