20K after $3K spend within 3 months on the regular personal Platinum. I wasn't planning on keeping the card, but some additional special offers exclusive to this particular card totaling another 15K points and $40 appeared in the past few days (i.e. together with the retention, 35K points). And a $250 statement credit offer also exclusive to the card appeared for a personal loan, which has no fees, early repayment penalties, or language regarding keeping the loan for a certain period of time to retain the $250 bonus. So at 35K points and $290, they'll have to deal with me for another year
I guess I'll have to start planning the use of the $200 hotel credit on another of those "stays with the 4PM checkout and $100 credit" as my wife calls them...

Kind of an anti-data-point but after being made retention offers (20k, 30k) for past two years on my Gold, I was not offered anything this year despite asking them 3-4 times. Somewhat strange as I spent more this year than previous two years combined on the card but I suppose there are other factors. Will still keep the Gold open as it pretty much pays for itself.

Personal vanilla plat. 30k for $3k in 3 months.
As my AF just posted, I'll try again in a couple of weeks, would like 45k to keep the card.
I really can't cancel it because I upgraded in less than 12 months, but fortunately it didn't affect the retention system.
But I'm glad that i chatted about it, the representative reminded me that I didn't used the hotel credit yet and it will expire in less than 20 days.

Personal Platinum - open since 2018.
2021:
Accepted offer in early November.
2022:
I tried for offers at the end of November and beginning of December without any luck.
Received and accepted an offer 13 months + 2 days later.
(Suggests 13 months between offers is the timeframe they applied to my offers.)
Offer was 30,000 MR for $3,000 in spend in 3 months.
Because my fee posts Jan 1, I think I'll have one last year before I end up canceling. The Fee is Too Damn High.

It's not speculation or a suggestion. It's a known fact that you must wait 13 months (or 13 months plus one day) in between retention offers.

The 13 month statement is a highly accurate generalization, but there have been exceptions, notably the $150 Platinum card offers which American Express did not seem to classify as (what we call) Retention Offers. I think this is related to the increase in the annual fee from $550 to $695, but that is only supposition.

Biz Gold - $20k spend, first AF came up. Was offered $175 credit with no spend if I keep account open. Declined and canceled card.
Biz Plat - 7 months old. Was offered 40k points for $10k spend in 3 months. Did not accept offer, left account as is for now.
Bonvoy Brilliant - no offer.

10000 Hilton points on Aspire, with 1000 dollar spending. Not great, but good enough
