I got the 50k MR offer with no spend on my Schwab Platinum. Only stipulation was that I keep the account open for at least 12 more months, which is fine with me. I opened the account in July 2020.

First annual fee
Was offered immediate $100 credit and another $200 credit after $4k spend; rep said there were no point offers available
Also stressed if I closed or downgraded the account within 12 months, the credits would be reversed

Does anyone recall when the language about keeping cards open for 12 months was added? I got a retention offer last March on my Platinum, and for some reason the annual fee just posted Jan 1. (Rather than Feb as I'd expected.) I don't want to keep the card for another year because my spouse has one, but I also don't want to lose all of my points / have all my accounts closed.

Third annual fee - never asked in previous years for retention offer
Less than $5k annual spend
Amex rep offered 10k MR points with no spend requirement. Accepted the offer. Must the account open for 12 months as expected.

Is there a way to check the date I received my last retention bonus?

I got a retention offer on my Schwab Plat in February 2020. My annual fee is due to be posted next week. Did I read correctly that you can't get a retention if you're gotten one within the last 13 months?

Never hurt to ask. With COVID situation, they may give you one. I got one in July 2019 and again in 2020 on my Amex gold. Good luck.

You either got a statement credit, or a bunch of MR points. Go back and look at your previous statements, short of keeping notes, that's all I can suggest. If you took an MR point retention offer it's probably easier to scroll back through the Points Summary activity screen and look for a batch of points with retention in the description. I suppose you could call Amex and ask them, but if trying not to overplay your hand, I wouldn't recommend calling and asking when is the last time I got this offer so I can ask you for it again?
So...you probably had 13 months in between? There's no harm in saying, it never hurts to ask, but I have yet to see a successful data point getting around the 13 month rule even during covid.

I am in a very similar situation (AF posts next week, took an offer a couple days after it posted last year). I was going to call in early February, just to see. Let us know what happens if you call.

In talking to the second department/agent (assume it was retention department), I continued to share that I was "thinking about cancelling" and kept stressing how it no longer made sense to pay such a large fee since I'm not traveling now, and that's when our conversation led to the retention offer of $500 with no spend.

First annual fee
Only spend has been to meet SUB and Amex Offers
Received $200 appreciate credit last month. When speaking with chat, was offered immediate $300 credit or immediate 30k MR plus 50k MR after $40k spend. Asked if there were any offers with lower spend, was offered immediate 5k MR plus 15k MR after $15k spend. Took the 30k MR offer (no plans to meet the additional $40k spend offer).

Retention Offer DP for the Amex Hilton Honors:
Was offered $50 credit or 10K Hilton points after spending $500 in 3 months.
Cheekily I asked what happens if I were to accept the offer then I close the card after getting the credit/points, to which the rep said the T&C says I have to keep the card open for 12 months if I accept the retention offer or else I risk a clawback.
I declined the offers and proceeded with closing the card (and moving the credit to another existing card) just because I only realized recently that Amex now has a 4-card limit policy for non-charge credit cards so I'm hoping that going from 4 to 3 cards will get rid of the pop-up of death for the Amex Plat 100K offer.
If it also helps with the DP, my first Amex US card was a duplicate Amex Hilton card. The card I'm closing is actually an Amex Hilton Surpass card originally and it was downgraded to the Amex Hilton a couple of months back after the second year AF posted. Was not given any retention offers to close the Surpass card strangely.

Had a chat with Amex about my Delta Reserve card. I had forgotten the AF went up to $550 this year, and I have an Amex Plat that covers lounge access.
They offered 50k miles, but I already have plenty of miles and didn't feel they were valuable enough for me.
Then they offered $225 statement credit after spending $2k in 3 months. I felt like the companion pass is worth $225, with the hope that we will actually get to at least book a flight before it expires in February 2022, so I took it. The T&C mention not closing within 12 months and there was verbiage about gaming the system.

I'm afraid you've got the logic backwards. Excessive opening/closing of accounts is one of the stated "gaming" clauses that lead to those pop-ups. And AmEx Plat is a charge card, thus subject to the 10-15 card limit.
