The first year you have the card, you can double dip on the calendar $200 airline award. After the first year, you cannot. So rather than keep the card and only get the $200, you should cancel. And then re-open in a month, and again double dip the $200 airline bonus. Eventhough you won't get any more MR points, you're still getting $200 x 2.
Every year? I am guessing that will not last long...

Many posts here show people risk having it clawed back (rightly), so AMEX is not going to let people stop/start endlessly.

I have seen this reported for cards issued in Canada, but not for cards issued in the USA. The competitive environment is different in the USA, because Chase and Citi have both matched this feature.

One call to the CFPB and that claw will get cut off with a machete.

That only values a hard pull with AmEx at $200 though, most people get more value than that out of a hard pull. In fact there are lots of cards that have cash bonuses $200+ and that's without having to deal with airline incidental credits.

Some FT members have alluded to new benefits for Platinum perhaps in June. Has anyone heard any details on this? We've gotten the particulars of changes to other cards, i.e. PRG and of changes to MR all taking place in June. So, I wonder if the news about Plat changes is just rumors.

This is exactly what I have been wondering about as well. Some threads mention it from CSR calls but nothing tangible. Curious if I should pull the trigger on the plat card or hold off til June. I travel every week but have the Admirals Club. More curious if any benefits or bonuses will make this card worth it for me.

So............ anyone hear anything?

Other than change in redemptions discussed here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...n-chart-2.html

And Gogo on the Biz card, and loss of 20% back on redemptions.... anything? I've seen the PRG changes and was hoping that would lead to Platinum earnings changes... but.... nothing so far....

On my last call, I got nothing. I got the standard "we're always trying to improve benefits" line but the rep wasn't aware of anything new coming up.

I was really hoping for something, such as, Go-Go for the personal card.

Within this thread, it is mentioned that new benefits may be announced in March/April, and then later it is mentioned June. Hold the football, Lucy....

Honestly, I'm really struggling to envision anything valuable coming out of this. I think the rumor mill may have gotten out in front of its skis on this one...
