I was able to receive the exact language of the company policy from American Airlines today via Twitter regarding PDB's. I was actually quite impressed they followed up with me regarding a conversation that started a few days ago. I also received a nice note from Hector Adler who I also reached out to who said that pre-departure services were discussed at great length at a meeting late last week. Let's hope things begin to improve and if not we continue to press the FA's to follow company policy.

@AmericanAir 08/18 AA123 ORG Limited #PDBServed
This allows all PDB service to be posted, good, bad, and otherwise. This should show AA that we feel this is a desired service. Maybe if someone gets energetic, a summary post could be done, maybe weekly?

3/8 - ORD-LAX - No PDB's at the gate, despite plenty of time to do so. Departed the gate and made to wait 30 min in the holding pen for flow control. FA finally decided to a water service. Then begrudgingly brought whatever you asked for.
Also: No offer for coat hanging. IFE was broken. Chicken inedible. Complaint sent. Stings more when you actually pay for F.

3/9 - HNL-LAX - No PDBs but only water was given out to F. No reason given, but this is the Red eye from Honolulu. Not sure if PDBs are offered on this leg.

If PDB not offered, ask for it. If denied for a reason, remember the reason AND the name of the FA providing that reason. Email Customer Relations after your flight, and tell them what happened with names. You'll likely get a semi-canned response and some miles.
Conversely, repeatedly thank the FA when the PDB is offered.
You reward the good behavior, and call out the bad behavior.

Yes, PDB are supposed to be given. January 2017 - Redeye HNL-DFW was my best AA flight in years in terms of service... probably ever.

It's fun seeing all the made-up stories agents make up. I hope someone is keeping notes to write a book/blog.
