I was able to receive the exact language of the company policy from American Airlines today via Twitter regarding PDB's. I was actually quite impressed they followed up with me regarding a conversation that started a few days ago. I also received a nice note from Hector Adler who I also reached out to who said that pre-departure services were discussed at great length at a meeting late last week. Let's hope things begin to improve and if not we continue to press the FA's to follow company policy.

@AmericanAir 08/18 AA123 ORG Limited #PDBServed
This allows all PDB service to be posted, good, bad, and otherwise. This should show AA that we feel this is a desired service. Maybe if someone gets energetic, a summary post could be done, maybe weekly?

There are repercussions alright... pax that pay for F pay elsewhere. I fully realize that I am one lonely voice out here in the FT universe but I'm voting with my wallet and I can't believe that I'm the only one. And it's not just about the lack of a PDB, it's about the significant, consistent (IMO) downgrading of customer service overall, of which a PDB is a part of. I've been a big fan of AA over the past few years but this merger has brought out a crAApy side of some customer-facing employees that just cannot be ignored. I could be wrong and probably am ... YMMV...
A little thing like a PDB of choice delivered with a smile and greeting is enough for me to choose spending money elsewhere. Do I need the PDB? Of course not, but at least I feel as though I'm receiving some sort of value for the product I purchased.

AA2322, 8/31, ORD-PBI, 8:05PM departure. No PDB.
Catered prior to boarding. FA’s busy on phones and chatting during boarding.
Nice enough FA’s during flight, just lAAzy. 2-3 in the front cabin most of the flight talking.

Hmmm ... looking back over the last weeks there seems to be increasing reports of full PDB service from crews noted as pmAA and (as a rough selection) those segments not involving PHL/PHX/CLT.

I absolutely agree and I'm doing the same thing. I now will only purchase F on AA when I particularly feel like I need it or when it's very deeply discounted, I otherwise rely on upgrading as that's about all the AA F product is worth (really not even that much when you realize they aren't complimentary for GLD and PLT). On the other hand I've found that I can often purchase F on DL, UA, or VX depending on where I'm going for cheaper than what AA sells it for, and in some cases, even cheaper than what AA is selling Y for at any given moment (especially DL and especially on the East Coast and to Texas).

RSW-DFW 8/21 PM departure No PDB -- New Hire Crew. Boarding complete 10 minutes before door closing. Service in-flight was quite good.
DFW-MIA 8/24 AM departure No PDB -- Lazy senior crew. Service in-flight was fair at best.
