As far as bags, you should be able to through check them. I've had family do so with no issue.

Agree. They will want to re-screen you for security and will need to see a boarding pass, I am guessing a pass for the following day wont work.'

As suggested, just go to the AA check in counters at T3. If you are eligible for Flagship, go there and make the inquiries.

And I've also found AA at LHR being tightlipped about the list. Last time they declined to state, and I said "hey, J is fine- I was just curious...I know it can change depending on all sorts of things, and I wont hold you to it. {smile}" She said I was #1 and it looked good. Cleared at the gate and snagged 2G on a 77W.

Thanks for the info. In the end, it didn't matter as the AA upgrades cleared before we left WAW, so no need to check anything at LHR. And bags checked at WAW made it to the US with no problem.

I have noticed the past couple times through T3 that the BA first lounge dragons have given a much harder time about entering on AA tickets. Last week, one actually said why don't you just go over to AA lounge instead of using this one.

Classy. If that were to happen to me, I think I would ask to speak to a manager.

I was there about 2 weeks ago and no problem either. They didn't even ask for my card.

I was there on yesterday and on Tuesday the week before. No problem with my AA tickets, although I was also connecting to/from BA.

Had a lovely fry-up yesterday in a very quiet and peaceful T3 Galleries First before thinking I would use (for the first time) the Flagship Lounge prior to AA101. I never made past the front door - the nice lady opened it and it looked so crowded, loud and busy that I fled right back to GF. Which was an oasis of calm still.

Don't people have overnight connections and sleep at LHR all the time?

Well, it depends on how you define LHR. I flew in late tonight from EDI and have an early morning flight to ORD/SFO (ick). I'm staying at the T4 Hilton though, not in the airport. Hoping to get there in time to check the breakfast offerings before my flight tomorrow.

I made it to the T3 Galleries first at a few minutes after six this morning. I was on AA99 in business. I had a BA boarding pass showing me as an Emerald and was pleasantly welcomed.

They had Taittenger 2006 which was pretty good. I had that and a reasonable breakfast from the food bar. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cooked tomato and mushrooms. After a bit I went to the Flagship to compare. Champagne wasn't something I recognized. The main food item seemed to be something resembling breakfast sliders. I didn't try any but they didn't look nearly as nice as in the BA lounge.

I used to do it frequently to avoid red-eyes on my way to India and S. Africa when IRIS was in service. With the shutdown of IRIS and the introduction of 77Ws (on which I sleep in J pretty well), not so much.

I would stay at the Sheraton Heathrow and have dinner at the White Horse in Longford Village (http://oldenglishpub.co.uk). At first, I'd take the Hoppa to the hotel and walk to the pub. Then I discovered that they had a free shuttle service and were willing to collect me from T5 on arrival (http://oldenglishpub.co.uk/?page_id=84) then drop me at the hotel after a pint (or two) and a curry.

Usually not needed when connecting to any of the hundreds of daily flights BA has to European destinations.

However, I was looking into going to TLV (Tel Aviv) and most of the connections are pretty bad coming from SAN (West Coast) - two red eyes back to back. An overnight makes sense in this case.

I aslo looked once into going to South Africa and Doha and overnights made sense, but just because I wanted to maximize my time on AA metal...otherwise, there are better connections (no overnight/not LHR) on non-oneworld airlines.
