After clearing immigration and customs, I'd just go to the ticket counter in T3 Zone F. Per AA, the desk is open 700a to 1815.

As far as bags, you should be able to through check them. I've had family do so with no issue.

Thanks for the info. In the end, it didn't matter as the AA upgrades cleared before we left WAW, so no need to check anything at LHR. And bags checked at WAW made it to the US with no problem.
