So I need to buy a club lounge pass and go talk to those agents?

this is sad that AA is not as generous as United or Delta on theses changes. Especially those with elite status. I’m disappointed. Might change my loyalty to Delta after this.

I could not agree more. I bought a ticket the morning of the 4th, and feel penalized for having acted early. If they are trying to encourage folks not to hang back before buying tickets, this seems like the wrong messaging.

I had to cancel a (non-refundable) flight to a conference that was canceled due to COVID19. If I book a new flight now using the remaining value on the old ticket, will the waived change fees apply in case the newly booked flight needs to be changed?

Lufthansa Group has started waiving change fees for all existing tickets for all destinations provided your original travel date is on/before Apr 30.

Is there anything concrete on whether Basic Economy is included in this? The fare rules look like it may, but I want to make sure I'm reading correctly.

It’s included. Look at your 13 digit ticket number. Starts with 001?

I have changed main cabin and basic economy tickets under the fee waiver on AA. Both were easy to do / no problem doing it with basic econ. The main difference is that you can change your flights for main cabin online in like 30 seconds and have the fare difference refunded to you automatically whereas for my basic economy fare I had to call in as the option to change my flight isn't on aa.com. Still, agent was friendly and had me all set + voucher headed my way in like 15 minutes max from callling.

AA has now matched Delta (and UA), extending change fee waivers to "customers who purchased tickets prior to March 1 for travel through April 30."

Good. It was ridiculous to alienate those who bought between 3/1 and 3/4.

Now waiting for them to match UA on the 25 hour flight change policy.

The notice on the AA website contradicts you. They're still not doing anything for ticketholders who purchased before 3/1. UA and DL are. With any luck AA will be shamed / pressured into following suit... there is a Change.org petition going to get AA to step up.
