I've got AA ticketed (001-) BA Metal in F (AA booking code A)...I wonder if this means I can get a full refund since last time I had to cancel one of these, I was charged $200 / leg but otherwise got a refund.

I have a Non refundable ticket issued June 5, 2019. Premium Economy DFW-HNL April 1, 2020. If I'm understanding the Change Fee waiver I can call and change this to December,2020 with no change fee and pay any fare difference. Does the new ticket become NEW? with a new issue date?
The reason I'm asking I'd like to make a follow up change later in the year to fly same itinerary for March 2021 . For example I request the first change today March 11,2020 for a new flight December 9,2020 paying any fare difference. Then in November I request a change for March 24,2021. I would then get a credit minus the Change Fee and pay any difference in fare. does this seam right?

Ticked in F - the fare just dropped from $729 to $458 traveling April 26, the conference might be cancelled; I assume I should call and cancel the trip then wait to rebook closer to the departure date. If the conference is a go the $250 reduction savings could then be used anytime in the next 10 months?

I was able to cancel flights booked through Delta and Alaska quickly and easily through Twitter. When I tried this with AA, I got a message that I could not send AA a direct message because they are not followers of me. Does anyone know how I can send a DM to AA through Twitter?

ETA: I finally managed to send a DM, but it's been 12 hours and no response yet.

No, you still have to fly within one year of the original ticketing date (is how I read it).

So if I don't fly I forfeit the money to AA. Doesn't make much sense to re-book between April 1st and June 5th. The CDC recommends anyone over 60 not to travel on a long flight, I'm 69 in reasonably good shape, so I'm probably going. Unless something changes in the weeks ahead. Thanks.

I had a non refundable ticket, issued in Feb. I called in to change it. The rep offered to refund it with no change fee. She answered all my questions on how to use the credit going forward. It was a very smooth process. I received the email about the flight being canceled. I, however, cannot find where my credit ended up. I had not used my AA# to book but rather my BA#. So where should I look for my credit for future travel? Is there another step I have to take to get the money to show up in my AA acct?

ETA: I got a call back from AA. The credit is linked to the booking that was canceled. I have to call in to reservations to use the credit, and book the new flight/s.
innerspace likes this.

I called yesterday to cancel an award reservation on AA and they refused to waive the redeposit fee.
I will still probably be able to use the award before it expires but that isn't as good as getting the miles back.

In the past, you could put the reservation on hold online and then call to use the credit (of the cancelled ticket). I am not sure if this is true for this special policy.

that would be good info to know. today i made two calls to AA, and received calls back with a two hour wait time. i am fine with that, i can't imagine having to do that to use my credit. things are changing quickly, so maybe in the next few weeks it will lessen a bit for the reservations/custom service reps.

Wish other airlines have the call back option. Alaska and chase travel does not. And it’s 3 hours!

What phone number are you guys using to get through? I am not an elite anymore and am calling 800-433-7300. All I get is "we are experiencing high call volume...", then "please try your call again later" followed by the call being disconnected.

Keep the original ticket number. The booking record locator would likely be gone in a couple of weeks after original flight date have passed. Only the ticket# would persist.
