I haven't personally, but my parents were recently on A332 N279AY (the only one with PE seats) from FRA-CLT. They were in row 7 which ended up being premium economy seats. They are both Gold with AA so were able to select row 7 at booking for no charge, however once the updated seatmap loaded at check in, they were able to select other seats in rows 6-8 if they wanted to. They elected to stay in row 7 as the open bulkheads in row 6 did not feature footrests. They said the seats were much the same as domestic F, but service was identical to typical transatlantic Y. PE is not yet sold on this route, and I'd assume that in other examples where it isn't yet sold you'll be getting standard Y service until PE is fully rolled out and "bookable" as such.

If they use an aircraft with PE seats on a route is not offering PE yet, you can get those seats for free if you call to your EXP line before T24. If that route will start offering PE, they may provide an additional service just a couple of days before the official date.

ACA321 your parents were lucky because AA Gold are not suppose to select MCE seats until T24.

Yes, however when they selected the seats they were just standard preferred, not MCE. They got lucky when N279AY was assigned to their flight. This will likely remain a loophole until all aircraft have PE installed.

N796AN, N793AN, N799AN are all at KPAE undergoing refitting.

12 772's are complete. They seem to be doing a lot of DFW/MIA-South America routes.

Wiki updated.

N796AN is back in service with a PE cabin after only 7 days at KPAE.

N777AN took its place at KPAE.

13 772's with PE now. 3 at KPAE. Moving along quickly.

Not moving very quickly on the A332 refit, however. Still only N279AY with PE. 14 left to go before EOY to hit AA's scheduled completion of that fleet.

You are missing 5 772's with PE, the one that have Zodiac seats

Tail numbers?

Can you update the wiki with that info then?

Found some other 772's that have been refitted that I missed earlier. Updated the wiki.

17 complete, 3 at KPAE. Looking like it's taking about 7-8 calendar days to get the refit done.

If any other frames are missing, feel free to comment here or update the wiki. ^

Wonder when 77Ws will get PE

With all the 772s going through the retrofits, I wonder when they will start on the 77Ws? Anyone have any insights?

There is a schedule published. If I am remembering correctly, the 77W will start in Dec.

Yes, read the Wiki above. There's a timeline for all wide body refit schedules.

The 77W will start around the end of the year and go into late Q2.

Any updates on the retrofit progress? I'm really hoping AA stays on schedule -- I have a few flights on the 787-8 already planned for June of next year.

IIRC, those are the last aircraft to be refitted with PE seats. I think 3/4 of the 772s have been done. They are currently doing the A332s. And of course, the 787-9s came with PE seats.

Anyone fly PE recently?

Curious if they've added the Casper bedding and what's up with the catering.

I've got PE on the LAX-NRT 772 flight on the 19th, and will report back.
