MODERATOR NOTE

Good day new AA flyers and those seeking AA status through this promotion,

In the interest of keeping this thread on topic and relevant, I'd like to add some clarity for our newer AAdvantage members here. While there is a wealth of information in this thread on the promotion in question, this thread is not a help desk for questions that are readily answered in forum FAQs.

For those with questions about how the AAdvantage programme works, please start with the sticky threads at the top of the forum thread list. The FAQs especially have a lot of helpful information. If you're still stuck, and you feel you've got a "basic" question, try the Newbie Lounge. If your question is specific to one of the topics covered in our Help Desk threads, head there for answers. If a consolidated thread already exists, check there first to see if your question is answered already.

This thread will be more strictly moderated to ensure it stays on topic. We welcome all new AA flyers to the fold, but posts need to stay on topic to keep our forum organised and findable. Thanks to everyone for cooperating and understanding.

Tried signing up:

"The promotional code you entered is not valid. Please contact AAdvantage Customer Service."

Seems they just pulled it.

I have just been contacted by somebody at American Airlines (again) who claims that the promotion in fact is targeted and was never supposed to be posted publicly.

Let's see what happens.

I just tried myself and I got the same error message. Looks like this might have been pulled? Tried it in Firefox and Chrome.

AA pulling it early might be a good sign for those hoping they honor it because it limits the damage.

Well, anyone who signed up according to the T&Cs (not-targeted, but not elite) should be honored. Anyone who missed it - snooze you lose. Nothing justifiable to complain about.

We'll see if they honor those who did sign up.

In the end, it's not stupid AA marketing, it's inept AA IT, perhaps.

Cheers.

I managed to sign up 15-20 minutes ago and I did take a screenshot (always do) of the text saying that I completed the sign-up process so I guess I´m good to go?

Combo of both, the IT people didn't come up with the promo. Even as a targeted promo, it might be just a little too generous.

I think AA is more likely to honor it if people start making bookings.

I called & AA said it was targeted & wouldn't let me sign up. That's what I get for not doing this at work.
