The first refurbished Domestic 752 (24 F seats) entered service on 10/18/09. Around half of the domestic 757 fleet had undergone the Cabin Improvement Project as of late 2012 (some older config still active 03/2014).

Private/General aviation uses tail numbers, which is why there is an option to track by tail number.

http://flightaware.com/news/article/...-Tracking-/139 - "The ability to track an airliner by the registration number. For supported airlines, you can type in the registration (e.g., N12345) and track that individual airplane, even if it flies as an airline flight identifier."
No AA yet, though.

I'm not sure "won't ever" is accurate. It looks like they support some tail numbers for commercial aircraft. I saw DL, CO, and UA mentioned as at least somewhat functioning. For example, N932DL works.

If you ask me, the current 757 seats are the ones I wish were on the rest of the fleet. The backs of the seats are wider and are more comfortable than that on the 737's. And, even if they look a little ragged, they look like a real first class seat than the ones on the 737. The ones on the 737 just look like a coach seat without the middle seat in between.

Any updates to the 757 refurbs? Are there still just two birds? Does anyone know the refurb rate? I know the 738s are being pushed through pretty quickly and the 57s are taking longer. I'm flying SJU-LAX in late February- I'm really hoping for an updated aircraft.

Set your expectations low. Very very low.

Brand New DOMESTIC 757 - Fab First Class
Flew on brand new AA Domestic 757 today, BOS/DFW.
24 seats in F, rather than 22.
21 inch TV screens on wall in bulkhead row of F.
AC power ports, (which finally ends the problem with defective cigarette lighter power ports on old 757s), in all F seats... just like the brand new 737s. So great - and easy - to be able to just PLUG in your computer.
Seats are exactly like the new 737 seats, i.e., not beige leather anymore, rather blue fabric, with movable armrests, with slot for skinny laptop, and seats that recline much steeper, as well as new drink trays and movable headrests.
And new 737 style bathrooms, with running water, rather than the old type faucet that you had to hold down with one hand, and wash with the other.
FYI - these, according to flight attendants, and my observations, were not refurbished planes, rather NEW planes.
