The first refurbished Domestic 752 (24 F seats) entered service on 10/18/09. Around half of the domestic 757 fleet had undergone the Cabin Improvement Project as of late 2012 (some older config still active 03/2014).

Loan or LONE?
On the dark side (other board) the non-speculation possibilities state that one ac is complete, and there are one or two 752's out of service at present, but no confirmed info that either one of these are in for a refurbishment. Keep your eyes peeled.

New 757 BOS-SFO?
It's been a few months since I've flown this route, at least in part because I wanted to avoid the 757. My flight yesterday through DFW got canceled and I was rerouted on the direct to SFO. To my surprise, it was a new plane (or refurbished). The seats were all like the 738 seats, in coach and in first, so it was certainly not a 75L. There were AC ports, a new bathroom with a curved door, etc etc.
Unfortunately words like "new" and "757" are too short for the search function here so forgive me if this has been mentioned. If so, could someone please point me to the thread regarding these "new" planes? If not, can anyone tell me if it's possible to determine whether I'll get a "new" 757 or not on subsequent routes?

Hi, I've only been on a ORD-LGA 'new' 757. Definitely different from the 75L (still 6 rows, no NGBC etc) But its great to learn they are using them for transcons ... sure hope I get one on my LAX-BOS redeye flight coming up soon

Not too many have been completed so it is pretty much the luck of the draw whether or not you'll get this on your flight or not. Look at the seating chart the day of departure and if you see six rows of 2 seats each - then it has been refurbished.

I didn't get a close look, but it seemed that the AVOD was built in up in F.

I didn't notice the refurbished added a 6th row on the left side. Mine only shows 5, guess that means I get the old one for a transcontinental flight

As of jan 31 there is one out of 105 757s that have been refurbished. And it's not assigned to a specific route.

Once the refurbs are complete, this will make the 757 my preferred narrowbody aircraft. I like that (at least at some stations) they board via 2L and that there is a second lav for F use. As of right now, though, I prefer the new 738s for their superior seats.

No, they are not. One merely uses quotation marks - "757" and "75L" work perfectly well, evidenced when the consolidated thread was found to merge these posts into.

bdemaria, did you fly 183 (morning) or 197 (evening)? It seems like quite a few BOS-SFOers have gotten the lucky bird on BOS-SFO... I usually fly 183 and haven't seen it yet... and would be happy to switch if it appears more frequently on 197.

Great. Now so long as we're off topic, perhaps you could suggest to the board admins that they consider adding language into the search dialog to that effect, if possible. That way, people aren't led to believe, as the dialog currently states, that the words are too short. And then moderators like you won't have to go around informing people like me.

Does anyone know how many domestic 757's (and which tail numbers) have been refurbished as of now?
