Not everyone lives in a home with a view, a personal chef to serve the Chinook with the sauce du jour, and an in-house sommelier to pick out the daily Bourgogne Blanc. Some eat Fries with Eyes and something carbonated from a can.
Yes a few were fried up... sans heads and guts.

Those are hooligan, AKA "candlefish."

Here's a Wikipedia information link.

In part:
Indigenous communities of the Pacific Coast from California to Alaska made eulachon an important part of their diet, as well as a valuable trade item with peoples whose territories did not include spawning rivers. The species was caught using traps, rakes, and nets. The harvest continues today, with other residents taking part in the exploitation of the large runs.

Yup... those are currently marinating in a vat of soy sauce, water, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, salt and other secret spices.

Do those smoke up as well as I imagine? My favorite fish dips and stuffings are best made with good oily fish.

Quite tasty. Started with cherry for an hour, now onto a batch of alder chips.

When they're all smoked, I put them in pint jars and pressure cook them.

The final product is quite tasty.

I'd never seen airstairs on a non-commuter plane at a major US airport until last weekend, when my EWR-SEA flight used them. I assume it was due to a gate shortage at the N satellite. The weather was lovely; it was a nice change of pace.

So I got a call today from someone high up in the feeding chain at AS ( will not use their name or position). Like the old days they are giving lists to various staff members of high mileage traveler asking if there is anything they can do for us! Interesting conversation food seems to be the number one complaint, now why doesn't that surprise me.

Anyway thank you As we're going to the old days.

I love the giant crowds at the C2 gates in SeaTac, especially when there are three delayed flights at once.

Not as bad as PDX Horizon gates and then when you finally board you have to walk halfway to the end of the runway !! That's one thing I will not miss when we move

I'll take the hike to Troutdale hands down to waiting in the A pit at PDX. I will also take the C Gate cluster in SEA over the A pit. Not enough ventilation in the A pit.
