Two (silly?) questions:
1. V is eligible for guest upgrade, while Q is not, but aren’t V and Q virtually identical?
2. How do you make a reservation for a given fare class (such as V)?

It's been awhile because GGU space is rare but when booking on the web, top right you can select Gold Guest upgrade whether available or not.

A recent reservation somehow put me in L for SFO-SAN and in G for SAN-SFO. The L allows me to switch to PC for free.

And another huge round of applause for anteater, who got my I class COS bonus correction taken care of in record time. A feast of ants coming your way along with a Mai Tai to wash them down with.

Mahalo!!!

I think it’s the new class for a saver award fare. Flying for Fun can confirm.

Correct, T is a Saver Main Cabin award.

Formally, Saver W was a Main cabin award, Z was a full-fare refundable Main cabin award & N was used for all dynamic award levels between Saver W & refundable Z. While dynamic awards were always N class, the availability of the underlying Main fare classes determined how many miles were required. As the buckets filled, the miles needed would increase as each bucket filled and moved closer to Y.

Now, T is used for Saver Main Cabin awards. There is no longer a designated fare class for dynamic or refundable awards so each fare class can be both a revenue or award bucket. Booking a refundable Main Cabin award just books into fare class Y as an award & the dynamic awards book into their respective buckets too. Rather than having an N award with an underlying V class fare, the award books into V.

For F fares; formerly Saver A, now Saver E.

T is also used for AA Saver awards so AS probably brought their Saver Main fare in alignment as well as discontinued W since W is often used as a full-fare bucket for Premium Economy as a seperate class of service like AA & CX.

From AS site.
Flying with Us/ First Class
AS still posting Class of Service bonus for F as 75%. See below.

Experience exclusive, First Class perks. Check in two free bags, skip ahead with expedited check-in and priority boarding, along with express security screening at select airports. Plus, earn 75% more Mileage Plan™ bonus miles with your First Class ticket .

Language should be changed to describe COS as 50% - 100%, depending on fare class.
Fare D and I, most often purchased, is now 50%.
I wish AS would stop promising me 75% COS for our First Class ticket. 🙄

AS & Expert Flyer

I'm setting up a search on EF for first/business LAX-BNE (don't laugh). Fair class D is listed there as First - Refundable Award. Elsewhere it is on the revenue ticket chart. Please clarify which it is.

It's both, non-saver awards may be booked into revenue fare classes. If you're looking for QF Business LAX-BNE however, your alert needs to be set up for the QF marketed (and operated) flight, fare class is U.
