The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

So has anyone seen these new meals in person/pics? How can we be sure they’re not just opening up those beef jerky packets they coincidentally stopped carrying and putting a little garnish on Top of them?

Those actually both sound great and it made me chuckle that they found a new & improved way to sneak kale back onto our plates!

They haven't been served yet, so no. I think it would be difficult to turn beef jerky into risotto or chicken, but if anyone could do it, it'd be United, not Alaska.

omg, risotto and kale with chicken. I don't need lie flat anymore. I wonder who would choose fruit and cheese other than hot meals. Before covid, I don't recall I have seen any, but I'm sure there are someone out there. So I may be able to have an extra risotto or chicken.

Not a single bump was encountered inflight. Again, not a bump encountered on the flight and absolutely no service provided in F on either segment.

Back on topic, I'm flying LAX-SFO on 4/13 so I'll report if the new beverage service is extended to flights under 350mi.

FYI....mileage running is "still a thing" as evidenced by all the folks filling up PC and F on the FLL flights these past few months. As long as you have a traditional, mileage-based program, mileage running will always be a thing....lol.

While we saw you use all the basket ingredients, we can't detect the saffron, and you didn't transform the pineapple, so for those reasons, you've been CHOPPED!

Oh, I figured that the new hot meals were only on eastbound flights since someone reported that the egg salad wrap is still on the breakfast flights westbound to Hawaii. I still haven't seen anything resembling a hot breakfast on Hawaii flights. Talk about a difference between directions....one way you get steak and potatoes and the other way you get "wilted" spinach and butternut squash.....yuck (it feels good to complain about hot meals again, doesn't it??).

The hot meals haven't been launched/served yet, so yes it is.

Apparently ending today. I had the good fortune of enjoying the eggywrap and turkey sando on the most recent trip.

Ending today on Hawaii flights...you'll need to fly virtually anywhere else to still enjoy the egg salad wrap

My 2 cents.

I think they've put a lot of thought into these menus. It makes perfect sense to serve a lighter menu (chicken or risotto) on the daytime flights and a heavier meal (steak or lasagna) on the Eastbound, as those will also include red-eyes, which doesn't happen on the Westbound.

I doubt there will hot meals on the red-eyes....even pre-COVID the red-eye flights only got the first class version of a fruit/cheese plate.
