How is a bid “accepted” and then declined?

I've seen a few people post the same thing on here in the last.
I've also read of (and know somebody) who have had a RU downgraded at the gate after being cleared earlier. Potentially something as simple as an EP1 who gets a guaranteed seat turning up or wanting to change flights that causes somebody to be bumped.

If they are moving reserve pilots around longhaul do they have a requirement for Business or can they go up to the crew rest?

Case and point... still feeling a bit bitter at how NZ treated us that flight.

This is my first post so I hope I’m doing it right!
NZ101 AKL - SYD 1/6/19
Y - PE
$110 (no status Jade only)
Accepted 7 days out
I also have a bid for the return flight on Monday but I’m pretty sure it will be rejected as the cabin appears full.

Hi All,
Newbie here so be gentle, only really just started getting my head around mileage programmes / how to use one-up / being smart with using air dollars etc. Can anyone direct me to a thread or a question that shows a bit of tactics around using one-up? I have a flight to Singapore in September with my partner and would love to treat her to an upgrade, whilst I get the principle of one-up after reading a few posts on this thread people seem to be successful on bids that are much lower than what ANZ considers weak or average, am I missing a trick?
thanks,
Q.
