My wife and I are scheduled to fly in J on a BEST 772 (quick change) in a few weeks. We are currently assigned seats E and F, but I was wondering whether it is actually easier to see/talk to one another in A and E or F and L given the barrier in between the seats, or whether it's just so difficult that we may as well both assign window seats. Does anyone have an opinion on what's easiest with the new layout? Thanks in advance.

You certainly speak for me. I also loathe 2G, but connections on flights within and between 2E and 2F are far better than they were before.

Sorry to repeat my question, but there is an inconsistency between the wiki and the AF document just updated.
The AF document clearly states that ONLY the 77W (777-300) with P will see the new seat in J. All the 3-cabins 77W will have NEV4.
The wiki states that four 3-cabins 77W have BEST J seats (F-GSQI
F-GSQI
F-GZNB
F-GZNC
F-GZND
If AF document is correct, the wiki should cearly state that those planes have old seats in J but new seats in W and Y (whathever that means for W and Y).

Let's take F-GZNB, listed in the wiki as 3-cabin with BEST config in J-W-Y : she flew the following routes recently : LBV, GRU, NRT, JFK, HKG.
Out of these destinations, 3 (LBV, GRU, JFK) are announced to be served with 3 cabin with BEST config. Hence the assumption that particular aircraft is equipped with the new seats.

Actually, I am challenging the fact to base the wiki on aircraft registration rather than destinations and configuration type.
What do you guys think?

It think in both cases it is challenging :
- some destinations normally served by BEST aircrafts sometimes can see old seats (think YUL, PTY)
- some destinations are served either with 3 or 4 cabin aircrafts (think PEK, PVG, HND, NRT, DXB)
- equipment changes (772/77W) are very frequent
That is why I initially based the wiki on registration but maybe that is a mistake. After all, AF is very inconsistent when it comes to communication on new cabins and we should probably ask our contacts there to provide accurate information.

A listing by route is also useful, although experience shows that the actual equipment can vary a lot.
Regarding my earlier question: is there a way to obtain knowledge on which J seat appears on 3-cabin 77W? My guess is that AF information is correct and none gets it. I would suggest to update the wiki to remove the impression that a 3-cabin 77W could have the BEST seat in J. "Enhancements" to W and Y are minimal, if any, under the new version, so that is not a significant information. But the difference between the new F/J and old F/J is huge. If all 3-cabins 77W do not get the BEST J seat, I think that some occasional readers might get misled by the current wiki.

A new update for BEST deployment has been posted by AF. As it would take me too much time to compare from the previous version, I put everything here.
- 5 frames end 2014
- 26 frames end 2015 (so 21 retrofitted in 2015)
- 44 frames end 2016 (so 18 retrofitted in 2016)
So total of 44 B777 in BEST out of 62 today in AF fleet ==> 18 B777 will stay in NEV4 (in config 42J or COI/14J).
- in 2017 : beginning of retrofit of the Airbus fleet (except A340 which will be in the process of leaving the fleet).
List of 2014/2015 destinations and date of 1st flight (warning : it doesn't necessarily mean that BEST is present every day on a specific route)
(J) means that this flight has no P and so is equipped with J/W/Y BEST
(P) means that this flight has the 4 BEST cabins (P/J/W/Y).

AF's seat map shows 12 rows, (10 - 12) are in a mini-cabin, and it's 1-2-1 across.
So this is a BEST configuration right?
If so, what are the odds that there'll be a substitution between now and October?
Can anyone wager a ballpark guess?
