On all flights:

- Pre-departure drink sevice (Orange Juice or water)
- Menus on all flights (except short haul)
- Hot towels offered on all flights with meal service after take off
- Continuous beverage top up at all times.

Short Haul (0:46 - 1:59)

0500 - 0900: Hot breakfast (hot main course + fruit + yogurt)
0901 - 1159: Hot pastries
1200 - 0459: Hot/cold snack with almonds

Medium Haul (2:00 - 3:15)

0500 - 1030: Hot breakfast (2 main course choices + fruit)
1031 - 0459: Hot lunch/dinner (3 main course choices + salad + dessert cake on tray)
[On most flights after 2000 that are under 3 hours, a cold or hot snack will be served instead]

Long Haul (3:16 - 4:29) + all Caribbean flights

0500 - 1030: Hot breakfast (2 main course choices + fruit)
1031 - 2259: Hot lunch/dinner (3 main course choices + salad + dessert cake on tray)
2300 - 0459: Hot breakfast (2 main course choices + fruit) served before landing

Extra long haul (4:30+) and all YUL/YYZ/YOW - YYC/YEG flights

0500 - 1030: Hot breakfast (fruit plate followed by 2 main course choices); cookies and ice cream before landing
1031 - 2259: Hot lunch or dinner (appetizer followed by 3 main course choices followed by cookies/ice cream as dessert)
2300 - 0459: Hot breakfast (fruit plate followed by 2 main course choices) served before landing
I notice this was last updated in 2011. Any changes since then? And specifically:

- Are SFO-YYZ and LAX-YYZ both considered "extra long haul" in both directions?
- Is full dinner still served on departures past 10 pm? (inconceivable at United, by the way).
- Is meal choice front to back in both directions of travel, on all flights?

Thanks......

SFO-YYZ and YYZ-SFO are extra long haul. Never done LAX so I don't know about that.

I don't know how much past 10pm is dinner still served. AC754 departs at 10pm and I get served a full dinner, with ice cream and cookies.

Meal choice is SE first, then I don't think there's a published service standard for everyone else. Some SDs take meal orders by elite status, some go front to back

I can vouch that AC141 (YYZ-YYC 10:55 PM departure) has a full dinner service. As much as there are things I don't like about AC (particularly the exorbitant Flex vs. Tango differential), they are generally pretty good about providing a meal in domestic J.

I'm amazed, because of how undesirable I find it

Push-back is at 10pm. Dinner is later than that. I do not want dinner that late, and I'm surprised at how many people do.

Its quite common to have dinner in major cities that 'late'.

Further the only other meal option would be breakfast which would entail walking up PAX in the middle of the night (on their biological clock) which I would think would be less appealing.

Redeye flights also tend to attract more night hawks (or those who can't sleep on planes) which would prefer this type of service.

Count me in those who like AC providing dinner with a departure before 11pm . ^

Can confirm that ex LAX that dinner is served on flight 774 (LAX-YUL 10:55pm departure) and 794 (LAX-YYZ 10pm departure). Both flights served a delicious dinner.

As Andrew Yiu posted in previous times, dinner service cutoff is 10:59pm departure (local time). 11:00pm and later, is a breakfast service.

I've had dinner on the last departure LAX-YYZ as well. And I wanted it too. I like to arrive in good time particularly transborder so I'll be leaving wherever I have been to head to the airport well before dinner time. It might be "dinner time" by the time I arrive in the MLL but that is not "dinner". I could go to a restaurant but I've tried those restaurants and all things considered, I would rather have the meal I've already paid for in my fare than pay for what those restaurants are serving. So, yes, I definitely want my dinner at 10pm or whatever it is.

As a data point, we received both breakfast and the snack basket on YYZ-UVF last week. Excellent service and loved the omelet with red pepper coulis. Do you guys always eat your cottage cheese hot?

I am not sure what your question is -- are you asking about a meal or your fellow pax?

No we don't! It's an AC thing for breakfast. I love that omelette as well that started out on Rapidair flights and now has been circulated system wide to various flights.

They did bring back hot snacks for short haul flights during the day so you will at least get something other than the snack basket - typically a small chicken pot pie, burrito, or something along those lines.
