So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

Not necessarily. I was offered LMU from FLL-YYZ March 28th AC 1225 for $269US plus tax at T24 exactly. I got the only J seat left. Plane was full. I have in the past received LMU on that same route for $349 US and $449US. It all depends on how many seats are left in the cabin and plane as well as fare difference. I've also been offered LMU on YYZ to LHR for in excess of $1300. They maybe looking at the load of each plane and if they can squeeze another pax in J from Y then they can get someone from stand by into Y.

Has anyone been offered a LMU from YYZ to IST?

That brings me to a question: If one is unable to complete a check in electronically, is there a way to inquire about purchasing a LMU by other methods (phone, etc.)

Thanks. And yes, I was aware of that. But I was wondering if there was something closer to T-24.

If you're travelling on a rewards flight (X) are you excluded from LMU's to J? It's happened twice this month YYC-YOW with the J cabin half empty but no LMU offered. Can only upgrade to premium economy.

There's no premium economy on YYC YOW, nor any route from YYC...

Ah I see they're called preferred seating but whatever I don't care about that. I was asking about being able to upgrade to J on a reward X ticket.

Yes, I have seen LMUs being offered on award tickets, both on Aeroplan tickets and other *A FFPs.

I'm at YYC now and inquired at the customer service desk. 9 out 14 J seats are empty and she offered me a LMU for $650 (YYC-YOW). I most definitely declined as there are multiple empty rows at the back of the bus.
