They all collect aeroplan and this is actually my first flight on AC so I just applied for a card after I bought my ticket. This is the first time I had ever heard of a booking class not collecting any miles! How long has this rule been in effect for? I think our tickets are all booked in either K or N class.

This is Ac's idea of how to "simplify" things for its consumers - buy a really cheap fare tells them the competition is a charter carrier with no FF program, so why offer points that probably cost them $90 for your trip. The strategy has been around for a couple of years.

Andrew, thanks for updating. I see you now have the elusive P fare to/from Asian destinations.

Yes - and the "S" fare too!

Thanks Andrew.

C to asia, no COS bonus...

I cannot for the life of me understand why flights to Asia in C do not earn a COS bonus. Can someone explain this to me? Is the $6000 I am paying a bargain or something?

From the aircanada.com website, it looks like Germany and Switzerland have similar fare options to those offered for UK, France, Italy, Ireland and Israel (note sp. error in "Isreal" in first post). I found Leisure, Latitude Plus, Executive First Lowest, and Executive First Flexible for Canada-Germany and Canada-Switzerland itineraries. Even the Tourist option for connecting code-share flights with Swiss to Switzerland is available for the summer.

I'm looking at booking a U fare to Asia. My tentative booking says the following:

Tickets are fully refundable(exceptions may apply on M and U class). Tickets are non-transferable.
What does this mean? How do I know if my ticket is refundable?

"How do I know if my ticket is refundable"

- trouble is you don't. But for all practical purposes, are likely refundable. Here is one fare rule printout for YVR-PEK:

I use a consolidator to make these bookings where I get clear fare rules. Air Canada's site has gotten worse not better on display of fare rules.

International (YVR-NRT) P Class Crediting to other FFPs?

Anyone find any Star Alliance FFPs that are willing to take International P Class fares?

Called AC. Ticket I am looking at is U fare from YYZ-HKG and M fare on SQ from HKG to SIN. Ticket is refundable less a $200 penalty. There is a $50 change fee plus any fare difference for a change. Oh, and I noted the agent's name I spoke to since we all know the story can change depending on who you talk to!

Thanks MG for the update. I had been wondering about the same thing. :)

I feel much better now.

On the AC website is shows that R&R gets 100% of the mileage http://www.aircanada.com/shared/en/a...etypes_rr.html

Has something changed recently? Just curious before I buy my ticket.

The AC website is right. There has been some changes in the booking class information. Could Andrew please update this sticky?

So according to the new rules, if I book a tourist class ticket (i.e. N, K, etc) to UK or Europe, I get 100% status miles for the international leg and 25% non status miles for Canadian and transboarder?

Correct.

RCyyz Oct 1, 2008 9:04 pm

I'm confused.

I've booked YYZ-TXL via FRA. I'm on a K class ticket. From comments above it seems that I should earn 100% status miles. However, on the AC website it says:

Tourist fare: Earn 100% Air Canada Status Miles for international flight segments operated by Air Canada and earn 25% Aeroplan Miles for connecting flight segments within Canada or between Canada and the USA. Aeroplan Miles do not qualify for Air Canada Top Tier Status.
How can a K class ticket earn 100% status miles, but "Aeroplan Miles do not qualify for Air Canada Top Tier Status."?
