Well my current contract has me routinely flying YVR to YYZ but has to be booked on tango fares. Status quest killed before it even begun, next job perhaps.

I just searched for a multi-city route (YOW-YYZ-BGI) and it showed up as "W" Fare Type for both legs... is this a Tango Plus ticket and will I get full Aeroplan status miles for this? Is it upgradeable only using a SSWU cert?

EDIT: Found it here: http://www2.aeroplan.com/earn_miles/...tner=AirCanada

It's a Tango Plus ticket... guess the OP needs to be updated with the information from the link above?

I have a trip to BCN from NYC.
Booking code is Air Canada AC LLWNC16S NYC to BCN.
However, some intra-euro flights to get to BCN are code share flights with LH.
Is AC's L fare is equivalent to LH's L?

ac.com no longer offers bonus aeroplan points for booking on-site.

If they book for you, you can always call AC up to 24 hours in advance and pay the difference to a T+ fare. I guess it would cost you ~$150 round trip, but if you can deduct that as a business expense, it might be worth if you can get status.

Upgrade L Class to Executive?

I am currently booked in L Class from Toronto to Shanghai, China for my flight in about a month. I am trying to figure out some way to upgrade this booked L Class ticket to Executive Class on this flight. According to the Air Canada/Aeroplan website, L Class fares are not upgradeable.

My question is: Is there any way (at all) to upgrade my current L Class fare ticket to Executive Class without having to purchase a new ticket? If this helps any, I have 100,000+ Star Alliance carrier miles and 100,000+ American Express miles in which both can easily be transferred to my Aeroplan account to pay for the upgrade.

Thanks for your help and advice! :)

L Class is considered Tango Plus. So you can be upgraded if there is availability in Executive Class, you have sufficient e-upgrade credits and you have status with AP. The latter will determine when you can put in the request and your chances of getting it cleared.

Newbie and a Q

...hey I used an abbreviation in my very first post...uh oh.

So what's the status of the AC Wiki discussed just above (i.e. December 2010)? I've looked at the link and don't see very much - still going to happen? I'm not a programmer so can't really help with architecture.

Thanks

The wiki never really got off the ground, as at nearly the same point in time *the other site* started up with wiki capability, so the effort was put in there.

Aha, thanks. I wasn't aware of any other site and don't have the energy to read another four hours to get up to speed somewhere else. :) But thanks for the quick answer.

Seeing that and http://www1.aeroplan.com/saua/Guidelines.do this saying Star Alliance upgrades may be requested when flying in: Economy class (Y,B fare classes) -- but Latitude is often as expensive as Executive First Lowest. What's the point of this whole upgrade program, then? *scratches head* http://img7.imagebanana.com/img/q79k...ection_005.png and when I tried to search online for award tickets they were available only for the most horrendous routing. It is better if I phone in?

Given that the latest update of the first post in this thread was three and a half years ago (and 34 pages is daunting reading when looking for a quick answer), perhaps somebody can help with the following:

Are T and L class fares eligible for 100% AP qualification on international itineraries that have a domestic leg? The original post by Andrew Yiu leaves some ambiguity, as he splits routes into domestic, transborder, international only for the most part.

Specifically: YVR-YYZ-EZE outbound on a fare code beginning with T and inbound with a code beginning with L. I'm sure the YYZ-EZE legs will gain full miles & count towards status; what about the YVR-YYZ legs - will they be considered Tango? And are both fares upgradeable or only the L codes?

Thanks all.

Both flights within Canada would be considered T+ based on booking class T and L. You can search on the Aeroplan website for status miles earned on every *A airline based on booking class.
http://www2.aeroplan.com/earn_miles/...da#CanadaandUS - click on the "Flights" tab.

Hope this helps! The legs can be upgraded as well.

N class HKG-YYZ

Hi,

I noticed the post on this fare class was posted a few years ago so apologies if it hasn't changed ...

My agent booked me on an N class from HKG to Toronto. She contacted AC and they told her that I would accumulate 100% aeroplan miles but no status miles.

I then called the SE desk and the lady told me that its 75% aeroplan miles but no status miles.

The web site says its 50% aeroplan miles for international.

Anybody has a sense as to which one is correct?

Thanks!
