Just a joke about common FT tropes re. "bottom feeding". I don't know anything about Jack's gifter. My take is, the rules of the program are what they are, how you achieve and use status within those rules is all fair game. If AC doesn't want certain behaviour, they can change the rules. No one is more virtuous for giving an airline any more money than they need to.

I logged in and can now select privileges for next year. Newbie question - this is the first year that I've had any status, but I'm E50k for 2017. Once I select my privileges, do I have to wait until I get the package from AC, or until March 1, to start using things like MLL access? I have some more travel booked before the end of the year, but nothing in J that would get me lounge access. Clearly, I'm eager for access to all the pickles.

I am short a bit over $500 AQD but got the Select option today. I'm doing a DEL flight on the 31st and if I had known I may have pushed that to the 1st and had it credit into next year.

Wait...does that mean they aren't mailing out physical lounge passes? This could be bad unless these vouchers can be added to already ticketed bookings. Even then I don't think I can add them to my AC flights booked through UA in March :(

You can pretty much consider yourself holding that status. Your profile should show E50K now and your card and tags should arrive early next month, or possibly before the year is out. However, With any current bookings, retrieve them to remove your AE number, close the res, then reopen it and insert your AE number again. This will reset your new status on the booking(s) as this does not occur automatically with previously made (under your old status) ones.

This was also the case in years past for the "aircanada.com Travel Options". You would get a sheet of paper in the mailed package with a bunch of promo codes to be used when booking on AC website. Good thing that they moved on storing the codes online.

What happens if you choose your "privileges" (sic) now but by the end of the year you hit a higher status?

I have not hit SE requalification yet in terms of AQM but will by Sunday

You have until January 01 to complete your selection, at which point you will be awarded Select Privileges by default.

Completed my SE selections as well. Looks the same as last year. Hopefully the upgrade requirements are adjusted.
