No offence to JJ but when a bottom-feeder family gets SE and E50K.....there's something wrong with the system. :p

None taken, I mean thats how the system is set up.... and I do agree its at-least somewhat unfair.

Kits are arriving!

My 2017 kit arrived in the mail this afternoon. I made selections within hours of the site opening up back in December. (Location data point: city centre Toronto)

No, because when I posted earlier today the kit hadn't arrived. But now having just received the package, they're identical to last year's. Only difference is the year 2017 on the bottom of the reverse side and the hole is half the size it was on last year's.

I'd just like to point out that it's not really fair to say it's "SE and E50K".

Every SE has the option to nominate a 50k, but it's at the expense of another privilege.

If you want to talk about bottom-feeder non-resident SEs, that's a perfectly reasonable discussion, but it's not like Jack magically got E50K. His dad gave up bonus miles or eUps for it.

Maybe they won't snap off as easily - lost both my tags last year (first time ever). And that's just with carry-on!

same here ! They disappeared sometime in the fall , on 2 different trips . Both the luggage and carry on tags.

They looked good , but we're meant to last forever , just like our status !

The purpose of a FFP is to entice us with perks so we fly AC more. Since I live overseas and AC doesn't service my local airport I would probably fly zero AC, now I fly enough to meet AQD (as a lowly non-SE mind you) and it brings extra sales to AC. I'm probably the exact type of person this rule is for.

You can order a new set. Not sure if AC charges these days, but in the past they'd send a new replacement pair for free.

The tags these days are about 1/2 as thin as the original ones issued back in the 1990s, and 1/3rd as thin as those great maroon AC Maple Leaf Club tags. Also think its a function of the metal fastener that through movement almost saws through the thin plastic over time. I use the old rubbery thing AC used to send us on my main bag. Requires enlarging the hole a bit but I've never had the tag break off. Have a very functional rope loop that came with my BMI tags that I use on my attache case or murse.

Sorry, no. You can find pictures of them on the AC web site. Same as last year, AC's no longer changing them year by year. Though the elite phone numbers have changed for AC reservations, but not for AE.

I have a friend who did EYW with me. That, plus other flying activities that he's direct to AC, means he hit the non-resident SE requirement, but not the resident requirement.

If there was no non-resident requirement, I don't think he would have been on a single AC aircraft in 2016.

I boarded a YVR-SFO flight halfway through last year, and noticed I had the red ring on my carry-on, but no tag attached to it. I called Aeroplan while boarding was in process, said one of the tags broke and got lost, and within two weeks, I had a new set. No charge.

As I mentioned above, the tags are identical to last year's design, only the year has changed and the hole is smaller. No change to the card either (other than AC "elite priority" reservation numbers). The envelope is about 9x6, and features the colouring of your status. The stamp area has both the postal meter coding and the AC roundel.

Business Priority Rewards for SE

Hello everybody,

New to the forum as contributor. Maybe this is the wrong thread.

Anyway, SE for few years now, and I have just noticed with the new year, that it is almost impossible to find a business priority reward ticket on AC flight direct overseas, even if they appear to be very much undersold (2/30 YYZ-CDG; 4/28 YYX-MXP, same for YYZ-CPH or YYZ-AMS) ... any time of the year. Has anybody noticed this?

Welcome to FT and the AC forum. Yes, you are posting in the wrong spot. Just a couple of threads below this one (as of 9am) you'll find a discussion of your concern that started up the other day, just one of many on the topic:
