Well as well as the portal, and the AC app, I just got my email inviting me to complete my 2017 benefits by Jan 2nd or they'll be chosen for me.

Interestingly the website itself still lists Jan 1st.. and Jan 3rd. Gotta love AC's ability to list 3 different dates.

I also received the email today. Even though I chose my options 3 days ago.

I haven't received the email nor can I select my benefits. Comfortably in E50 territory, no chance of hitting E75. I'd feel singled out, but:

I just qualified (early) for E35k in 2017.

Is this the first year that the bonus miles is a "select" rather than "core" privilege?

Now we have to choose between eUps and aeroplan pesos?

Any recommendations on which is the better option?

I do a couple of YYZ-SFO flights and one (maybe 2) transatlantic flights a year. Most of my trips are shortish YYZ-somewhere in the US.

I've only been a P25k previously; I'm pretty sure the 25% bonus was included as a core.

Nope. It's been a select for a while.

No. Bonus miles has been a "select" privilege for many years.

You've always had to choose between them, at all levels except P25k. P25k does not have eups a choice in bundle one.

YYZ-SFO: can be potentially difficult to eup as an E35k. The 10 eup credits will only give you one-way eup from a low flex fare (uses 10 eup credits).

TATL flights: only worth it if you buy latitude fares to eup - you can confirm the eup at the time of booking if P-space is available, and you don't need to pay the copay. If you are on a flex fare, then you need to pay the copay.

Transborder short-haul: make sure your flight has a business cabin. and also decide if it is even worth upgrading a short haul flight. i.e. YYZ-BOS uses 4-eups from low flex, for a ho-hum experience.

P25k does not have eups a choice in bundle one. The choice has been 25%bonus or 35% discount on MLL membership.

Thanks!

I guess I was oblivious having only ever been "prestige".

It sounds like the 35% might actually be the better choice, since as a 35k I'll likely struggle to use the eUps I have.

I was P25K for six months this year, and was able to use all of my eUps.

canadiancow Dec 15, 2016 10:43 am

I had no issue using all my eUps when I was E35K.

jc94 Dec 15, 2016 11:22 am

I was unable to use even half my eUps. But that was mainly because I only had 20 and had hoped to upgrade some longer flights and so kept them. That and I saw it as a bad idea to accept an upgrade option when the boss was back in row 18.

With hindsight of what would vs wouldn't clear, I could have used more. The key is to use them on flights that aren't busy ;)

When will AC announce Altitude 2017?

When will AC announce Altitude 2017 information?

This is my first year of status due to travel between our US office and Vancouver which is home. I have a variety of airlines to fly so thus would like to know.
