Seems to me, the fact that there is a mixed bag of start and end dates for a range of benefits and status adds to the confusion for some and perhaps is annoying for others.http://nas.janex.com/ACTrackr.png

Standard fare for both AC and AP.

In many companies we have to deal with the left and right hands not know what the other is doing. With AC and AP we have to deal with fingers on the same hand not knowing what the others are doing.

Oh they know. It's the same middle finger both use when customers complain.

Priority Rewards are limited to a combined total of ten (10) reservations in both Economy and Business Class, per Super Elite 100K member, per year. Your counter will be reset when we proceed to our annual requalification activities beginning in December and your status is updated for the following benefit period. Keep track of the Priority Rewards available to you by visiting your Dashboard. You will also see this information when completing a booking using your Aeroplan miles through aeroplan.com.

They might have added that wording after reading this thread?

At AC, IT quirks translate into policy... :D

They should just reset the counter on January 1st or March 1st. Randomly in December makes no sense. Last year it was when benefits were selected. I sent a DM to ACAltitude asking them what's going on.

I still had 4 left from this benefit year. I had one more priority reward to book and don't want it coming out of next year's bucket.

Lise has not quite retired yet though.

It makes perfect sense. it leads to some stress, confusion, some people waking up and finding their bucket of remaining IKKs have been toasted well before Dec 31. Perfect AC strategy.

My IKK counter reset overnight too. That is really annoying. I had 3 left and was going to burn one or two before YE. This timing of resetting the IKK counter is total BS.

Would you say you relied on prior communication and it resulted in an economic loss?

I will confirm that AC has had this wording posted as far back as April 10, 2016. An IT quirk perhaps, but one that was anticipated and addressed proactively. I will give AC credit for this one.

But, assuming that AC did modify the wording mid-year, AC has this little tidbit in T&C:
Air Canada assumes no liability toward members for anything, including but not limited to, for the cessation of airline partnerships, changes to program benefits & policies, adjustments to mileage accumulation or redemption eligibility, availability of redemption or upgrade seats, definition of and/or revisions to the Air Canada Altitude qualification period or benefit year for status recognition, or access to airport lounges.

Later, there is this wording:
Air Canada will be the final authority as to the interpretation of these terms and conditions.
Do we think this is ironclad?

I would say the lawyers AC pays to write the T&C think so.

I'm pretty sure they know better but put it in there anyway hoping it will scare off a few people thinking of suing.

I'd think it's in their best interest to ensure greater litigious action to run the bill up no?

Principal... Agent... Sounds about right.

I'd think not a few... Time for another scotch, or woodford reserve tomorrow morning. =)

ACAltitude responded and told me to contact Aeroplan as they manage this portion of the program. I'm pretty sure Aeroplan will tell me to contact AC if I contacted them!

Me:
Hi, Aeroplan, my flight miles didn't post. It was an Air Canada 014 ticket on Air Canada metal, no schedule changes, original ticket

Aeroplan:
You'll have to call Air Canada. They decide if miles get posted. We just post them.

Me:
Hello, Air Canada. Aeroplan told me to call you because my miles didn't post. It was an Air Canada 014 ticket on Air Canada metal, no schedule changes, original ticket

Air Canada:
Oh, we don't handle posting of miles. You'll have to call Aeroplan.

Me:
Hello, Aeroplan. Air Canada told me to call you. Agent said you're God and in charge of the universe.

Aeroplan: Oh ok, when did you fly, what was the PNR or ticket number.

Me: xxxxxxxxx

Aeroplan: Oh, I see you flew outbound but never came back.

Me: Well, I'm at home so how can that be?

Aeroplan: Well, no flight return is showing? Are you sure you flew back?

Me:
Well, I have photos of me onboard the flight, photos of the meals, photos of the IFE showing my location while in-flight and I have the menu and some other souvenirs. Which ones would you like as proof I flew?

This happened 2 years ago.

Additional Priority Rewards

I just logged into my Aeroplan account today and noticed that my available Priority Rewards has jumped for 3 to 10. Anyone know why this would happen in early December?

The Lev Dec 5, 2016 7:04 pm

You have been reset for the 2017 year as already discussed in another thread.

luckylager Dec 5, 2016 7:22 pm

I found the other post, so thank you for pointing it out. This is bull though considering I had saved 3 priority rewards to use before the end of the year and have now lost them presumably?
