I wonder what the electrical hookup did. Can't be ground power - the landing gear is retracted.

Unless it's one of those fancy electric planes we've been hearing about.

I think it had lights inside it if I recall. Interesting that none of the Maxes were actually delivered in this livery.

Yeah, I think the picture was taken a year before the new livery was announced and the first 737 didn't arrive until later that year.

Dash 8 memories from about 17 - 18 years ago ... YYJ. Second photo slightly modified out of respect for privacy.

Found the following in a plane spotter group,

Air Canada last served Singapore in 1991 with their 747Combi and L1011, but 33 years later, they are back! Operating 4 weekly flights, and subsequently expanding to 5 from December 2024, the airline will also be the only airline offering direct nonstop services to Canada.
That's before my time and the internet. How many stops did it take for the Combi and L-1011 to get there ? I'd assume it was the -500 variant since the -1 could barely cross the Atlantic.

Did they do the Pacific route (via HND/NRT?) or through the Atlantic with stops in Europe and India?

International Business Class

The discussion regarding "Executive Class" in the Zoned Boarding thread reminded me of this.
The menu is from late 2014 (I think) or mid 2015, before the "Signature Service" branding came into effect (2018).
Just a couple of observations:
  • It was a daytime flight from CDG (with the nice foie gras), and the meal was referred to as "Lunch" vs "Dinner" now.
  • This was back in the "Nutri Cuisine" days of health eating options, gone by the wayside (although I'm not certain as to the validity of the claim back then).

I remember those old timetables...I used to pour over them as a kid, not sure why but they were fascinating to me!!! Dreaming I guess of all the places I could got that would take me far, far away from YXH.

I love that they showed which flights would have movies and music...look how far we have come!!

Good memories too of the 747 and the L-1011, 2 of my favourite aircraft, although I think in that era the CAI 747 and DC-10 were preferred in J.

I can't see the route shot of the timetable anymore.
I think it was 6:40, 9:10 + 5:40 eastbound.
About an hour longer westbound.
About 5 hours less than you counted.
Not bad for the old days!

It's in @vancouver25k's post. I accidentally double-counted the YYZ-LHR for an extra 6:40.

Back when it was one movie running on a screen at the front of the cabin. We're so spoilt now.
