Yeah I was looking for a recent aeroplan itinerary and when I searched in my inbox it brought up a flight I had ticketed back in 2011... NA to Asia and back to NA via Europe flying first class on All Nippon, Thai, Singapore (the old first in the nose of the 747) and Lufthansa for 120,000 points. Those were the days.

Not much younger here, but still going on fast... Already requalified for SE for next year, plus two years banked. Probably never going to reach the 3MM level, but with a few more banked years, might not make a real difference...
As to Aeroplan, might be that more miles are now required. But there has also been inflation on the accumulating side. Also, I find priority rewards often to be quite reasonable.
Still, good to see old timers around. I guess BB is the oldest one still here?

I think I beat him for age, but he's still flying -- and I think he got a special award this year

I think it was in 2008 or 2009. At that time I dealt with Charlie McKee. I contacted him saying I would swap my memorabilia for points. I had enclosed a list of what I had. I seem to remember about 40 items from the 1950s and 1960s. I was hoping to get 25,000 points but was flabbergasted when he offered 300,000 points! I I was a very happy camper 😊😊😊😊 😊!

There were timetables, the first copy of the inflight magazine, lots of photos, a brochure about “when a lady flies”. I did publish the whole list on Flyertalk at the time but sadly seems older posts (2007/8/9) seem to have disappeared 😕.

I remember the time when pilots would allow children to visit the cockpit during the flight. My niece was asking me last week if I'd ever seen the Northern Lights, and I was telling her that the first time I saw them was from a cockpit. I was about 9 or 10 years old, flying from YYZ to YEG, and I asked the FA if I could visit the cockpit The FO was showing me all the bright lights of the various cities, and then said "Hey look, it's the northern lights." Still remember that feeling of awe.
Obviously, 9/11 changed all of that. :-(

Its not really the same, but there are still many flights in Canada operated by BEH1900s and DHC6s, where there is no door or even curtain separating the cockpit from the cabin. And many airports do not have security check or even ID/BP check.

Anyone hear a member of the Kanata club? That was the Canadian airlines special customer thing that existed around 1984 to 1988. Got you access into lounges etc. I guess I'm an oldster.

Couple of years ago, my grandmother was visiting the US and had a medical emergency. I had to fly down to escort her back by air ambulance, which was in a Learjet. The co-pilot let me sit up in the cockpit for an hour during cruise. Loved being at FL410 and hearing all the AC/WS flights on the comm's flying below us at FL370 or whatnot. Never would have wished this experience on my grandmother, but it was a memorable flight back!
