A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
    • Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

Mine was a BOG flight as well. Check 9 to 10 days out, should be updated by then. AC didn't send any update as the seat selection does not get impacted by the change. I had an alert set for mine and it got triggered. Cheers.

Excellent! I'll keep an eye out. Excited to fly Signature internationally for the first time (although I expect the return EZE-GRU-YYZ to be better)! Less so to see what Avianca does for "business class" when they don't have business class

I've had 3 flights on Avianca thus far with a couple more to go.

First flight was 320 with the old WJ style where they had the middle seats empty, but, this was worse since the flight was empty and they wouldn't let people move to get entire rows.

319 was the old leather 2 seats (very comfortable for short haul)

320 NEO was their new premium class with 2 seats extra room divider in the middle and was okay.

Let's see what comes off the last few flights.

Looks like the AC website just re-added the SQ config as 333 "Layout 3" on the fleet page of the website. This would be the W30 + Y255 config. I'm assuming that these will be on the two extra A330s joining the fleet in 2022-2023.
So far seeing these routes for next summer:
YUL-BOG 3 weekly starting May 2, 2023 (BOG-YUL starts May 4)
YYZ-BOG 3 weekly starting May 3, 2023, 4th weekly starting in June
YUL-ALG 4 weekly starting June 16, 2023 (ALG-YUL starts June 17) at the start of the seasonal service
Not sure if the new lions are scheduled for anything prior to May 2 but I wouldn't be surprised if the old XM config listed for BOG is a placeholder until they figure out exactly when the planes will be delivered.

YUL-GVA remains A330 in March and April, and YYZ-CPH has one in April. I mention the latter since our return CPH-YYZ has changed layouts twice since booking - currently 1-2-1 in J (thankfully).

C-GFAF has left Singapore. I wonder if it has been refurbished... if so that's the fastest turnaround yet at 47 days. On Flight Radar 24 it's showing as working AC318 (YVR-YUL) on Dec 7th and AC900 (YUL-FLL) on Dec 8th and Air Canada app is showing the old seating layout still.....

Kinda disappointed if they didn't end up refurbishing C-GFAF as it means its back to playing roulette to see which configuration you get on an A330 flight.

I also can’t believe they haven’t refurbished it already. It’s getting a bit ridiculous the length of time it’s taking to complete the refurbishment program.

In your opinion, what are the odds of AC flying YUL - BOG with the SQ config in June?

Disappointing yes, but perhaps something came up unexpectedly that AC needed to plane back to fly now vs. waiting. Or this was just planned maintenance for this fin and refurb is planned for later. Maybe they will just use it for North American routes for now like Florida.

Much more likely than had they not added that layout back the website and started selling those flights as PY and Y only. For PY it is a much better product than regular PY,

Yeah that's what I thought ... I decided to keep my booking even thought AC downgraded me from J to PY (since the seats will be SG)

I hope I will get a good chunk of points back.

I would have love to keep my J tickets benefits though... I guess they all will go down the drain since I'll have a PY boarding pass.

A replacement fleet of A330-900neo's in a standard configuration would completely simplify life.

Ugh, don't give senior management ideas like that. As if the cramped 333 pods aren't bad enough, if they ordered 339s, they'd probably look over at the extra 2 seats TP has squeezed into their 339s and think that was a good idea.

Granted A350's would be my personal pick and first choice.
