A330-300 Fleet Overview
AC currently has two configurations of 333:
- Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
- The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
- Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
- Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

Had my first ride in refurb'd A330 J on Apr 18 YVR-YYZ. Originally was a 787 I believe but got swapped to A330 a month out.
Definitely smaller than the 787/777 pods. Notable in the feet room and the shoulders. I don't think they're a big issue to the point of avoiding them for shorter flights. The humidity regulation was a bigger issue for me. Maybe it's an issue with all A330 (experienced it on the TK cabin as well) but the air was very dry! It'll suck for transatlantic routes (I'll be on this both ways for a trip to Lisbon in Oct) but could be worse.
Also not sure if this was an one off case but the middle seat divider did not latch shut/open for us. It'd slam close during take off, and slam open during landing.

Any thoughts on the best J seat for solo traveler? Right now I have seat 1A reserved on YYZ-VCE and same on the return.
Any issues with the front seats or should I move further back (I think I read row 8 has no windows but not sure if any other seats have issues). ?
Thanks

Booking a last min biz trip. What are my chances of getting stuck on an old non-refurb A330 on the CPH-YYZ route in two weeks from now?

Sitting on AC184 right now
It was a 777 and swapped to a 330. I guess I always assumed trolleys were the same across the widebodies. Currently at a 60 minute delay due to equipment swap and they needed new trolleys and had to reload the plane

I have a flight in July with the old cabin shown in the seat selection. Is the FIN number known/visible this far in advance? I don't/didn't end up in J all that often, but I haven't seen the old cabin in years. Would be slightly nostalgic.

Almost non existent. They only have one in the fleet.
Check the seat map when booking and ensure J is the new one (ie 1-2-1 seating)

931 is the only FIN left in the old configuration. It has mostly done transcons the last little while. It did YUL-GVA-YUL on Apr 30/May 1 and YYZ-BOG-YUL on May 2/3 (actually only the 3 as it left YYZ almost 2 hours late). It is scheduled to Punta Cana on May 8. It is a bit unusual that it did a trip across the pond as 931 (and 938 before it went for refurb) were doing most transcons, Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I suspect 931 will go for refurb as soon as 947 comes back from QPG which I reckon should be shortly as she's been there a while. Apart from that there is 940 which is still hauling cargo. She's likely to go for refurb once there are is another 767F in the fleet. AC is almost done the A330's and hopefully the A321's start their turn.

The A330 is my preferred plane when travelling with a companion - because of the movable divider.
