BR is not immune to this (and yes, I agree. BR35/36 had when it comes to those needing wheelchairs. I am constantly surprised at the amount of wheelchairs on Rapidair routes. Or just people who limp... And before I get hammered again for being unsympathetic, Zone 0 = pax requesting wheelchairs only.

YVR YYC on an A320, called Zone 1/2 + families in the first call.

YYJ YVR yesterday on a DH3, agent called Zone 1 first, and then waited for myself and another SE to board, then called Zone 2. And I don't even think the protocol requires splitting out Zone 1/2 on an aircraft that small!

There appears to be a new class of pre boarding. If AC picks you up in a limo and transports you to the lounge the concierges then escort you onto the plane ahead of everyone else. looks like they are trying to compete with some ME airlines who use similar methods for high tier customers in J or F.

My wife was on a flight from YOW-YYZ-YEG today - on an Aeroplan economy award through my Aeroplan award account. She has E50K status.

She was still listed as boarding on zone 5, as I could not enter her Altitude status, when booking her ticket.

How can we get her perhaps boarding zone 2 - ie how do we get her Altitude status listed on the p.n.r.?

There is no way for them to change the Zone # on the BP. Just make sure she has her E50K card, and tell her to board with Zone 2 and show her card. This has worked for me (wife's AE points booked for me).

Hahaha Very awesome that people have the skin to do this for a flight.

Yes nomad, but then there is that calm, sereneness of NRT Gate 43, where (as I mentioned in post 1777) the contract ANA GAs are now sporting the latest in tablet-ware

We've established that HND and NRT are far superior in their work ethic to get things right... so let's focus our energy to North America, where the lazy live and work.

I wonder if the passengers create the problem.

When they do zone 1 separately, people in zone 2 yell at the GAs, so the GAs just combine 1 and 2.

Maybe we should yell at the GAs when they don't do a separate zone 1.

More reasons for me to move to Japan

Making things work smoothly here requires better organization and more group effort - and maybe everyone on the front lines following the same set of rules and procedures, not making things up as they go along. IMHO, the challenges in North America are inconsistency and the focus on the individual - which is fine for a society, but for boarding a couple of hundred people....not so much.

I would add HKG to that list of superior work ethics as it is always done by the book and seamlessly. Agreed that North America is hit-and-miss, although some (most) stations are (slowly) improving.

So - I know this won't win any hearts around here, but what is the strategy for getting a higher zone WITHOUT getting status or purchasing a J ticket?

Essentially how does one get into Zone 3, instead of Zones 4 or 5?

I picked seats closest to the front of the plane. I was Zone 5 TCON widebody and Zone 4 on a short connection. I don't understand why it would change mid trip.

I am seeking bin space on my occasional Ac flights these days. Is the new strategy to pick the last row of the plane to get Zone 3?
