Looks like the old (new) VIP website is now down...
www.aircanadaVIP.com

www.aircanadaVIP.com/en now routes to the new altitude website.

and, some new branding for the VIP program for this year (again) Red is the new Black.

Where does it say this on the altitude website? I only see the benefits chart going up to SE100K.

It doesn't. The details are only available to be reviewed after you log in successfully as VIP.

Umm.....wouldn't the real benefit be having *A gold status and all the related priority benefits without even trying?

AC VIP is obviously a way for Calin to reward his political cronies and corporate friends.

If you're not earning it, you're not using it enough to be that useful

Sure, lounge access on your annual vacation is nice, but it's not nearly as useful as on a weekly transcontinental

I'm sure some folks like to flash or brag about their AC VIP card even if they don't fly much.

I suspect that actual VIPs usually have other things on their mind and mostly dont care much about FF status. Only VIP I know of, Canadian president of a three letter IT company, for example. If you are running a business of several thousand people, and being compensated in the millions, do you really think you care about FF status? VIP would just be a way to make sure the people that can direct millions of $$$ in travel spend toward AC get treated right when they fly with AC.

and possibly a way of hedging bets too!

I saw the leader of a political party on one of my recent flights, black metal VIP tag hanging off the carry-on bag. No name was written on the tag, it just had Air Canada and the Maple Leaf engraved on the card and VIP under the Air Canada and Maple Leaf logo.

The VIP card reminded me of the Centurion card in terms of the matte black metal card.

This person was sitting in the seat I usually sit in, so it was nice to see that I normally sit in one of the better seats!

Benefits of VIP-Confirmed!

While in the YYZ lounge today, I had a really helpful agent (who remembered me because of all my irrops and segments).

I asked her about the VIP benefits, and she looked them up through the internal system. It is essentially Super Elite but:
  • 75 Eups
  • E50 for a friend
  • 125% AQM bonus miles
  • Priority everything, including escort through airports

There is a large selection of black VIP folders next to the printer at the YVR MLL.
Would make a nice accompaniment for those of you with zone 1 paraphernalia!
