We cannot be sure until the first CdA Gold members reach the end of their initial year, but everything posted above leads me to expect that Le Club status will continue as long as members continue to own shares. I also expect Accor to make an effort to ensure that only current shareholders retain CdA membership.

CdA membership figures
As an update to this post from last May, here are the Shareholders Club membership figures, as at the end of each year, taken from Accor's annual reports:
2001: 3,000
2002: 5,000
2003: 5,500
2004: 6,600
2005: 7,000
2006: 7,300
2007: 7,600
2008: 7,800
2009: "nearly 8,000"
2010: "over 8,000"
2011: "more than 8,000"
2012: 8,143
2013: 8,591
2014: 10,050
2015: 4,086
My guess is that the 2016 figure will be similar to that for 2015. If someone doesn't stay with Accor enough to earn Gold then jumping through the CdA hoops is not a good use of time or money.

As a result of my downgrade to gold June 2015 I have considerably reduced my Accor stays for 2016, enough to loose gold also at review time.
We will see...I still vaguely may stay 20 nights this year, I don't care really, probably paying for some top rooms in my preferred hotels.

Interesting, seems the plat downgrades didn't really affect accor's share quantity market.

If people that hold AC shares sold them because of the downgrade, that would not reduce the share outstanding. There is just a quantity of shares available on the market and everytime someone sell a share there is a new holder,.but the share is not cancelled. What will probably affect the number of share outstanding will be the issue (creation) of new shares to finance the Faremont/Swiss hotel deal.

I have not seen any commentary by Accor on the changes, either in the report or on any presentation slides. From their point of view I'm sure it's a simple case of "job done": they removed an unusually generous benefit and put a stop to something that was harming their business.

It's on page 298 of the annual report, available in English here.

Plat downgrade of le club des actionnaires + Amex must be a key contributor

The Le Club AccorHotels Gold Club des Actionaires card has a validity period of one year.
After these 365 days, your status is automatically updated by your activity (number of points and number of nights accumulated).

Membership is valid as long as the Club member meets the conditions set out in Article 2 of these terms and conditions.
They will just ask for a broker statement or confirm your registration internally to issue your new card. It won't expire after one year.

My personal experience.
Have been Le club des actionnaires since the early days.
My status was never downgraded even if I never hit the thresholds to keep the status. I never send the form again proving I was a shareholder either.
Only last year when the status dropped from Plat to Gold I have been asked to send an updated document proving I was still a shareholder.

Not really, as written in the T&Cs:
Article 2 says you must still have 50 shares/1 registered share at the renewal to keep your Gold status.
They will just ask for a broker statement or confirm your registration internally to issue your new card. It won't expire after one year.

Email yesterday from Shareholder Club:
Dear Sir,
As mentioned in our Terms & Conditions, as Shareholder, you benefit the Gold status during one year.
Please see below:
“Points earned using the Le Club Accorhotels Gold loyalty card are valid for 12 months. If, at the end of this period, the Member once again satisfies the conditions required for this Status level, the Status level is then renewed for an additional 12 months (365 days). If the Member does not satisfy these conditions during the current 12-month period, he/she will be given the Status corresponding to his/her activity calculated over the preceding 365 days at the end of this period. A new card corresponding to the Member's new Status will be sent automatically within 4 weeks.”

Kind regards,
I understand it as following:
Points are valid 12 months
Status is granted if you meet the conditions. Now if hold every year 50 Accor' shares you DO meet the conditions to be granted again the "Leclub des actionnaires" Gold status.
I do not see that the "Leclub des actionnaires" status is only valid 1 year.
