Regardless of how booked, EI/Aer Lingus flights never earn PQMs.

It will earn RDMs (award miles) based on fare class and flight mileage.

If ticketed by UA (016) it would have earned PQDs.

What do I do when business award ticket does not ticket into business on AC leg

Got M+ business saver awards ORD-(YUL)-ZRH-(FRA)-ORD in November. YUL-ZRH on LX, ZRH-FRA on LH, and FRA-ORD on UA all ticketed into Business (I), but the first leg ORD-YUL on AC ticketed into Economy (X). That's a short leg, and a skimpy 6-seat business class, but can I call United to get waitlisted for that business award availability?? Or do I call AC to do it? Or is it hopeless?

Cannot waitlist a partner (AC) segment. You're pretty much stuck with what you booked.

Does the Star Gold extra bag benefit for non-UA Star Gold apply for the member only or for the entire reservation?

Thanks, but since I don't have a client here (internal company business), it wouldn't fit into our corporate travel policy. I'm sure things will work out. I've just never done this before.

Hi there

My wife and I each hold a stash of UA points and have access to good redemption options due to each of us holding a MP Explorer card. We are traveling to HNL next summer and we have 3 kids. But, I am not able to book for 5 savers in one booking but I can 3. So, I was thinking of booking 3 tickets (me and 2 kids) and my wife would book 2 using her FFN account.

My hope is that we somehow get close together (one row apart). How likely is this to happen?

That's really hard to estimate without knowing the city pairs, when in summer, when you'll book, etc.

You can look at the seat map today/now and see what seats are available. When you book, those would be the seats immediately available to you upon making an award booking.

The more important concern is the availability of 5 award seats on the same flight. In economy, this is can be available but not always. If you book one set of seats and then you can not book the second, you have 24 hours to cancel for free. You can use an agent to tell you the number of available award seats or learn how to use Expert Mode (or ask here)

What does the seatmap show? The fact that they are separate bookings has no bearing on seat assignments.

Yeah that's going to be a tough one. You may have better luck on the new flight from LAX, or one-stop via ICN, TPE, TYO, KIX, etc.

I have two flights in sequence - one today and one tomorrow (as part of the round-trip itinerary with a less than 24 hour stopover). I was able to check in for the first flight. However, now that it's less than 24 hours until the second - I can't seem to get online system to check in for that one. It offers to check in on the front page at United.com, but if I follow through - it just returns me back to the current (not yet flown) flight check in.

Is this by design? At what point will I be able to check in for the next flight?

Try the app. It will ask you if you want to check in the return or re-check in the outbound.
