Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Issues with DSU at Andaz Maui

Posted this over in the hotel thread as well, but wanted to see if anyone was having trouble using a DSU at the Andaz Maui. Have a reservation for the last week in January and the Hyatt rep told me they now only book into the Poolside Suite, of which there are only a few. Of course they are all full. Didn't this property previously confirm the Andaz suite? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Correct but this was only soon after they opened. They soon blocked guests into partial ocean view suites and this looks like their attempt to even further reduce the ability of using DSUs at the property.

1. Name and location of hotel
Hyatt Regency Buffalo
2. Suite type
http://buffalo.hyatt.com/PropertyWeb...il.744.415.png
Huron Suite. 2 separate room numbers. Essentially a hospitality suite. Bedroom is standard room; somewhat uncomfortable bed. TV was angled relative to bed (previously discussed). A/C not especially functional in parlor. Parlor contains murphy bed - a bit dated and the murphy bed isn't flush against the wall. Parlor also has views on three sides.
3. # of Sq Ft
Approximately 650 square feet
4. # of Bedrooms (Studio/Jr/1/2) and # of Bathrooms (1/1.5/2)
1 bedroom. 2 bathrooms. Both bathrooms are tubs and are identical.
5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it (A/B/C/D/F)
I'd give it a C - it's a dated design, and the A/C was not very effective given the warm weather in Buffalo during the week. In the future, I'd be more inclined to get a standard room unless I absolutely needed the extra space. Service was fine, except for the valet parking - we constantly felt ignored and the valet parking was consistently too slow to clear the backlog of cars - even when there were only a couple of cars around!
6. Any other info (location/view/relative price vs normal rooms/etc) and pics if you want
The combination of the bed, dated design, and issues with the slow parking service make this Hyatt one of the few that I would be hesitant to return to, even as a diamond. To its credit, the weekend breakfast schedule is very good (goes until noon) and the manager and staff are very good. Given all of these things, I'd be inclined to stay somewhere away from downtown in the hopes of finding a better price/value. I'm very curious about the new Hyatt Place in Amherst.

Any update on the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto? They used to be on the list of of the not participating hotels, but not anymore. Do they accept DSU now? Thanks.

No, they just seem to have dropped off the list.

Any idea why? One could actually request it since it is not on the list anymore.

Yes, so did the Hyatt Paris Madeleine, but when I tried to use a DSU I was told that was an error and they still don't honor them. The list wasn't updated, however.

Maybe just a Hyatt corporate error. They still don't accept DSUs because they have so few suites. Doesn't hurt that they can sell them out all the time too.

That's a really good question. I remember reading (last time we went to Japan in 2013) that there were no suites in HR Kyoto. The best they had was the DX balcony king with the fancy tub.

That seems to have changed now: http://kyoto.regency.hyatt.com/en/ho...oms/suite.html

Alas, we're going next week, but the hotel is booked. Perhaps with a cluster of diamonds hoping for a last-minute DSU.

Please get your facts straight.... and HR Kyoto still doesn't accept DSU's.

They're usually bought and paid for by Japanese guests or up to the discretion of the general manager.

It is just a typical copy/paste error that left Kyoto off some lists (e.g. the list for suite upgrades on points), but it is still in the list on this page describing Diamond benefits:

http://goldpassport.hyatt.com/gp/en/...ip_diamond.jsp

4 For purposes of this award, a suite provides for one-bedroom accommodations. Suite upgrade award is not valid toward Specialty, Premier, Presidential or Diplomatic Suites. Suite upgrade may not be booked at Hyatt hotels or resorts before they have opened. Just booked a Cash + Points booking at the Park Hyatt Vienna. I applied a DSU and was booked into a Park Suite:

"This 65 to 75 square metre (699 to 807 square feet) suite is finished in impeccable detail with wood, gold and bronze, and overlooks the serene courtyard or Vienna’s most exclusive shopping area. Designed with separate living and bedroom areas, each of the suites offers a plush king bed, separate work area with complimentary wireless internet, flat-screen TV, walk-in closet and a large marble bathroom with floor heating, deep-soaking bathtub and walk-in rain shower complemented with luxurious Blaise Mautin bath amenities and thoughtful touches such as cozy robes and slippers."

The stay is in about a month and I will confirm the room received then.
