the eagle has landed
This thread is full of aspirational posts about WS bringing the new 787's to Asia. Even the promo video suggests deployment in international service:

Ironic, then, the actual launch plan is YYC-YYZ!
Any word on phasing out the aging 737s? Or, are they all going to Swoop?

Why would it be? Until they have several 787 planes on hand to support overseas routes, it makes perfect sense to use it on a domestic route so that staff can be trained on a completely new aircraft type. Westjet has certainly learned some expensive lessons with their UK routes.

737s are not that old - less than 10 years. Some are going to Swoop, some leases on older 737NG aircraft may not be replaced by 7M8 but the bulk of WS's fleet will be 737NG. By 2027 you will see a shift to more MAX aircraft.

The first few rows of the Y cabin on the 787 show as being “Preferred” seats (or whatever they call their slightly better Y class seats now) that come with a higher seat selection fee.
Does anyone know if those seats actually have any extra legroom, or are they only charging the higher seat selection fee in those rows because it’s the front of the cabin?
