I just reached 60 segments this year, and will no longer fly UA if alternatives are avalble. This way I can also compare elite status with AA.

With only three days left, it seems that the shutdown is inevitable. Just bought a headset to use during the upcoming calls to the 1K desk.

Hello Randy? Are you there???

Just booked my next three JFK trips and a RTW trip with the travel agent. Let United pay them the fees.

Of a total of 6 letters, 4 E-mails, 2 phone calls- all to different people/offices I got the following response:

- 2 letters from the lady at UA customer service I talked, the first one inluding a $ 50-off cert, the second one insuring their concerns about this situation. My guess is, the second one was the a response to all the other letters, which got rerouted to her.

- 2 "canned" e-mail responses.

I doubt that the gentlmen Goodwin, Dutta, Atkinson even know my/our concerns, yet even would take/have the time to read our writings.

Still keep my fingers crossed!

And for the UA beancounters:
What does cost you more in the long-term?
Keeping UA Connx with minimal technical/upgrade support or hiring DOZENS of reservation agents to staff the clogged-up reservation lines???

Well, today's the day. What time is the funeral?

Maybe it's time for someone to buy the software and make it available by membership?

Any other thoughts?

I am very very sad today!

WOndering if United will make a final response?

It's sad. I also hope they don't take away more City Ticket offices.

I am very disappointed that Randy has not uttered one word on this in a month despite several pleas on the thread in his forum.

For me too. So I just now -- sigh -- printed out all my itineraries from the system (so I can occasionally and tediously check to see if there have been fare drops via the web page, rather than easily and quickly checking for such drops via saved itineraries on United Cxn.

Like many have noted above, I also have several UACXN reservations for future travel and will need to regularly check for fare drops.

While it may be easier for me as 99% of my flights are between the same city pairs, I find it faster to check for fare reductions using Travelocity's fare listing feature.

I know that I'm looking for lower fares in either V or W class between LAS/LAX and I simply check for published fares on United between those city pairs. If a lower fare is listed in those classes, then I'll get on the phone with the 1K desk and go through them one by one. I find it less troublesome and quicker than united.com.

It may not work for everyone but until united.com gets better functionality, Travelocity for price checking works for me.
