I was wondering the same thing about N782UA.
flightaware seems to indicate that N229UA has been in SFO since Aug 28th. What's it been doing for the past couple of weeks ?

N229UA is in for conversion, according to the wiki.

when will UA finish remodel their 777?
SEA-NRT still using the old aircraft? Even DL will change their SEA 767 to Airbus 330, which offers way better biz seats...

I mean, we can't even always get the new config SFO->NRT and SFO is the biggest elite hub in the system!

Any in for conversion? Wiki doesn't look like it's changed in about 7-10 days or so.

I'm curious as well. SFO-LHR has lost two 777s, to be replaced by one 747. Assuming that 747 was replaced by one of the 777s, that still leaves a 777 spare. With the changes towards winter schedules, I was hoping that the rate of conversions would increase sharply. Instead it seems to be stopping.

I'm thinking this will be one of the last routes to change over on a more consistent basis. It's probably the lowest revenue route to NRT for UA from NA based on my experience in subjectively judging loads (especially in F/C)

I would not make this assumption; in 2009 HNL-NRT was one of the only all new-configuration 747 routes; it was a promotional thing as many Japanese travelers purchase F and C for their Hawaiian vacations.

Agreed with this, but are NRT<->GUA also going domestic 777's like HNL<->GUA?

I posted this in the LH forum as well, but I suppose it might get more feedback here (at least for the UA product). Any thoughts?
On a side note, it seems like the current plane for UA0941 is actually a 744, and I'd like to avoid UA's 744 (no real reason to go with UA 744 vs old LH 744). Is there an equipment change in plan for this route in December?
I'm flying back from Stuttgart to Kansas City in December, but my choice of connecting airports could be Zurich, Munich, or Frankfurt. Looking at the Frankfurt options, I could be on...
1) LH0430 (744) from FRA to ORD
2) LH0446 (now 744; when I booked, A346) from FRA to DEN
2) UA0941 (772) from FRA to ORD
I take the risk of not having a PTV on the 744s, but I also risk not having VOD in the UA777. Any idea which gamble has higher odds?
It looks like 1/3 of each of the UA 772 and LH 744 fleets have been updated, so I'm not sure based solely on equipment choice which one is better. I'm leaning toward LH for better food and beverages, but I also do love the 777 -- just typically not in UA's 2-5-2 arrangement.

941 is not a 744. It's protected by a 772 -- usually one of the four reconfigured 77Ds.

I was trying to see if the flight flew over the Alps (I suspected not, but I wanted to check anyhow) and then saw the 744 on the route.
If what you say is true, then I'll probably end up taking 941 back to the States and guessing on a seat.
