If you carry the CO PPlus MasterCard you earn 1000 FlexEQMs for every $5000 spend. Those count to MM in the CO system when applied to your account.

Read through the entire thread. I have mixed feelings on this, I'm 1P right now on status match, will likely make 1K on miles next year, and this feels like a slap to the face; US Airways did this a few years ago and greatly ticked off their elite base. Nice to see UA making the same damn mistakes ...
As I have limited vested interest in staying with UA, I'm eyeing this very carefully; if this is the only major devaluation of MP, its tolerable. If E+ goes, I'l history; I'll go to US, and fly UA as *G on TPAC.
Won't go back to Delta, and can't go to AA easily.

Let the devaluation games begin
Anyone else see this?

OK so it keeps the some of segment flyers out of 1K - but for those folks in 1K who fly 25K miles / quarter it cuts in half the CR1s (from 8 to 4) at the 100K BIS level - and gives them to folks at the 75K BIS level... It will now take 150K BIS to get the same 8 CR1's...this is not expanding the pie or rewarding loyalty - but re-distributing the pie.

wow, amazed to see the number of 1Ks acting like spoiled kids.
In the past year you got UDU, one way *A award, and *Net blocking has become much rarer. Now you lost a few CR-1s and everyone is whining like crazy?
The MP program is still way more competitive than SM and AAdvantage, imo.

For CURRENT 1Ks, they get shafted their first 75K EQM in 2011. I am one of those folks. That is possibly 8 CR1s I don't receive in '11 if I only ring up ~50-60K next year, v. current policy.
UA/CO flyers >150K get more CR1s than before (If they can use all of them then likely to consider as a plus)
CO flyers now get CR1s -- assume they will consider that a plus
CR1 earning is back to YTD not quarterly approach -- seasonal flyers will probably consider that a plus
So the problem group is UA 100K-124.999, 125K-149.999K which will get 4 or 2 less CR1s respectively
Also for those that keep talking about a total CO takeover. Seems like the plan coming forward (CR1s, SWU on w or higher fares, ... ) has mostly an UA feel. The benies at 75K seems to be approach to keep the CO Plats happier. Pretty much what I would expect in a merger, a little of this, a little of that, some individual changes but overall a much more MP feel.
And even looking at CR1s by the airline is so myopic. They have a new huge international network. Why are they pissing about over such inconsequential stuff (in the landscape of the airline), hacking off customers unecessarily, instead of focusing on how to make customers want to choose UA for international travel? Small ball, Jeffrey style.
The logo change is epic fail. Yet who knew that would be the best of the changes from the merger?

One change is that there is no requirement to do BIS on United to get the CR1's. US must be liking this change.

If you are a government flyer, and UA is big on government contracts, and if you can get by wasting taxpayer money by consistently booking into YCA rather than VCA, you would have some pluses in the new CR1 allocation: Class-of-service miles did not count towards the 10K quarterly minimum, and now you'd only need 16.7K BIS and would not have to worry about timing to get the CR1s after 75K. Also, big business class spenders, as noted before, has less of an incentive to book into United (CR1s and 1mm uncertainty).

This is the "too cute by a half" disaster. Added complexity, reduced flexibility.
And even looking at CR1s by the airline is so myopic. They have a new huge international network. Why are they pissing about over such inconsequential stuff (in the landscape of the airline), hacking off customers unnecessarily, instead of focusing on how to make customers want to choose UA for international travel? Small ball, Jeffrey style.

That's what happens when a glorified regional carrier CEO takes over a combined huge global airline.
Small ball. Inconsequential stuff.
Instead of focusing on customers flying int'l on UA, they are pissing off many 1Ks.
They even put a spin on this as a "benefit" --- typical CO style.
