The 1K agent told me that she can just add the PE WL segment into the PNR without affecting my queue position for Polaris upgrae. It makes sense. However, I want to double check here for others' experiences. Right how Polaris has open seats but PE is actually fully booked. I kind of wonder if I should just sit in coach exit instead of PE upgrade which can be without aisle access, which is important to me.

Thanks.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I put in 2x80 points to be on WL for Polaris for SFO-HKG RT but didn't request PE (which were available, both ways, so would have been instant upgrade and 40 points deducted). Trying to justify spending 40 points for confirmed PE seats in case Polaris WL don't clear. Think I should have requested PE as well?

Up thread I kind of discussed the same, and for some reason I really don’t see the value in PE over E+, I’ve watched the service and it’s really abbreviated. I had a good seat in E+ and was able to see what went on. The seat upgrade is not that important as I find it 1/3 better than E+ and I rather save the points for true Polaris

How long after hitting a status level does it take Plus Points to post?

transportprof Dec 27, 2019 11:37 am

Apologies if this was already discussed, but I had my first PlusPoints upgrades not clear. These were applied as RPUs before Dec. 4. So I'm not sure whether those RPUs were converted to Plus Points or not, and how I should get them back? I see no change to any of the PP totals on my account since the flight yesterday. My miles have already posted, so should I be expecting any points back?

If nothing happens in the next couple of days just give United a quick call and they should be able to fix any problems.

Thanks. But what is supposed to happen? Do I get more points in total, or do the requested points decline and the total stays the same?

I think mine hit my account page within 48 hours.

What should have happened is your RPU was refunded on Dec 5, effectively putting that back into your account where it was convereted to points. Subsequently, the request was automatically reapplied but with the points not deducted until cleared. Check the account history to see if the points total increased on Dec 5 from the RPU refund.

Nothing changed in my totals or requested points total since the upgrade didn't clear. Assuming that the RPUs were properly converted to PP, should the requested total go down now that my waitlisted upgrades didn't clear?

Your requested total should go down, and likely will within a couple of days. It doesn’t really matter, though, as that number is unlimited. You can request as many upgrades as you want; if enough clear that you run out of available points, your requests are frozen until more points are earned.

Waitlisted PP upgrade and Same Day Change?

I have a trip from ORD-EWR-PVG (Chicago-Newark-Shanghai) on 1/3. ORD-SFO-PVG has almost 3x the availability in Polaris.

what options do I have wrt SDC and a waitlisted PP upgrade from Premium Plus to Polaris (its on a U fare too).

will my waitlist carry over with SDC?

You will need you purchased fare for no cost SDC and the waitlist does not automatically transfer, but in the gpu/rpu days if you called to do the SDC, they can / would transfer the request (and believe the request time is reset)

Apologies if the answer is in this thread - but I could not find it.

If I'm waitlisted on a trip with domestic and international segments, how can I turn of the plus points waitlist for only the domestic segment (and hope for a CPU), while retaining the waitlist on the international segment? I just don't want to spend the points on the domestic leg.

You need to call.

Correct — and note that this is only possible if none of the segments have cleared. UA got tired of people calling to remove cleared RPUs because CPUs looked likely.
