Done. Thanks!
Did I get lucky getting DOD into "O" ? I seem to recall some sort of inconsistent DOD up-faring. I checked another flight I have in April AMS ORD. Got award Y (think it was XN) and paid for cash upgrade offer to Premium Economy and got R. K - O for $300. XN - R for $345. Is the difference just in award vs revenue base fare? Just curious. Thanks! EDIT--What would I need the documentation for? I have PDFs of O fare class and me #1 on UG list...but what situation would I potentially need them? |

Does it matter under PQP system? Wouldn't the PQP credit be original fare + upgrade fee?
Unrelatedly, it took UA 3 days to deduct PPs from my account after the upgrade of my colleague’s flight was cleared. Both of us thought that UA would not take the PPs. We were wrong! 😟 |

I have NEVER requested premium economy (PE) upgrades on UA...either business or bust. In return, I have never been placed on the PE list. Have a lot of data points, as I travel nearly weekly or more.
You don't have to take our data points, but in parallel, you also shouldn't trust some FB posts. Test out yourself.

How does that happen? They are two independent list. How does clearing of the PremPlus waitlist negatively impact your priority on the Polaris waitlist? What leads you to think this?
Since then, I've done better with flights that don't have PE or not requesting PE, but I haven't requested it so I can't really compare... and each flight is different so who knows... I'm happy to hear that others have had better experiences. |
Perhaps I could have searched, but hoping for a quick answer.
I requested PlusPoints on two segments LASDEN, DENSTL for two passengers; yes a waste but they are going to expire so might as well use them. When I click on just the LASDEN segment for both of us it says total 40; when I click the DENSTL segment as well, the total stays at 40 if I request upgrades for both passengers and both segments. Is that correct? Isn't it per segment and should be a total of 80, or is it directional (LASDENSTL) and they will only collect the highest amount of points needed? |

It was the buy-up offers that destroyed your upgrade chance. I just heard from a colleague that economy-to-Polaris buyup was about $600 (US to Europe) at the last minutes. The speculation for other causes such as requests for both PremiumPlus and Polaris is fruitless.

It is not per segment, it is per upgrade request. It will collect the largest number of pluspoints needed for any segment in a request, regardless of how many segments there are. So putting in a request for LAS-DEN-STL would need 20 per person, but if you requested LAS-DEN and it cleared and deducted 20 and then requested DEN-STL it would need an additional 20.

Not a fan of this time-of-year, as my PlusPoints are dwindling down to almost zero; have to conserve them where I can.
Currently have some PlusPoints for Y to O waitlisted, but am not seeing any buy-up options at all. Plane is near empty; what's the best option here? Call in and remove the PlusPoints from the segment, to get buy-up upgrade options? |

Check waitlist position by changing device date (desktop/laptop/tablet) to your flight date and check flight status |

Is the flight O9 A9 R9? If s:o chances are upgrades will clear a some point before the flight. You can also always call in and ask where you are on the list. I'd do that before trying to buy up.
But my goal is J, not O. Not sure if I should wait for the upgrade to clear or not. The way the seatmap looks right now, I may prefer an almost empty E cabin, to a semi-full O cabin, so it's becoming E or J only at this point. Just not sure what the best course of action is. On a G fare so getting into O was 20 PP, J is 80PP, which is more than I want to 'spend'.

You can remove online, check the offer and if uninteresting, reapply. Not likely to shift waitlist position.

IMHO if your goal is J for 40 points you should have b;)ught W or higher...

Can't see where to remove PlusPoints online...hmmm. How do you remove PlusPoint waitlist request from a segment? |
