I have 120 points that expire at the end of January ‘24 and 40 points that expire at the end of January ‘25. I have trips/upgrade requests in December and January that will consume all 120 points that expire at the end of Jan ‘24. I want to apply the “January ‘25 expiration” 40 PP I have against two trips I have in February ‘24. Each of these trips would require 40 PP (80 total) so I know I won’t get both. My question: as long as I haven’t “over-requested” PP that expire Jan ‘24, I’m not at risk of messing up the Dec ‘23/Jan ‘24 requests, right? (These are much higher priority for me). Since those PP expire in Jan ‘24, they couldn’t be used to fulfill the 80 PP request for the February flights if space opens on those first, correct? Thanks! Good luck with your requests. |

No worry! The system won’t deduct your PPs out of order.

I should know the answer but there are so many permutations now to memorize.
I’m GS and cleared an XN to PN on an international flight using PlusPoints. The long domestic segment is waitlist using PPs and not looking great. If I remove the PP to watch the cash buy up (not offered with PP on the reservation right now) and then reapply eventually, will I owe 20 more PP for the domestic segment or will this segment still pull from the existing 40 PP that I used on the international segment that already cleared and deducted? I also can’t remember - I should still get a cash upgrade offer on XN redemption or no? |

you can still call and ask for the cash UG price, even with PP applied. ‘Not looking good’ probably means only high booking classes available? That means the buy-up price will be high as well.

Thanks KMXU. That is definitely not what they have written, but it does explain why another poster on another thread was asking why his "next threshold" was showing 27,000 PQPs. Must be exactly as you say. So those who earn 1k with PQP + PQF earn an extra 20 PlusPoints at 21,000, 24,000, etc. But if you earn 1k through PQP alone, you only get the 20 extra PlusPoints at 27,000, 30,000, etc. Do I have that right?
I'm so focused on this because I have to book one more flight this year. It sounds like if I make it a silly 6 PQF trip instead of 2 PQF, and then I qualify for 1k PQP + PQF thresholds. And will earn an extra 40 PlusPoints. Right? |
Hi Guys,
I am tired and need a quick sanity check. BOS EWR LHR. BOS EWR J4, PZ0. EWR LHR PZ8. If I list for upgrade for both segments, EWR LHR will clear due to PZ8 and only deduct 40 PP due to booked W fare class. If J still available at that time for BOS EWR that will also auto clear with no further points deducted. Right? Thanks gang. |

UA takes the maximum of 40 (EWR-LHR) and 20 (BOS-EWR) from you. In this case, it will be 40 points.

I earned my 1K PlusPoints with PQP and PQF. I got 20 more at 21,000 and my next threshold is also showing 27,000. I am also wondering why it is not 24,000 for the next threshold.

Sorry if this has been already answered, I did not find answer
I have a round trip AUS/SFO/TPE The SFO/TPE segments have both cleared with PP The AUS/SFO are showing that CPU are requested It seems from what I read that I should not try to change that Shouldn't the AUS/SFO segments be in a higher priority waitlist? Can I have them put into such a higher priority status if possible? |

If you are a 1K, and you booked Premium Economy, you should already be at the highest waitlist priority available. If you booked regular economy, you could add PlusPoints, but because SFO-TPE already cleared, this would be a new request and would take new PlusPoints.
I booked a Premium Economy on the ticket, So is my priority elevated? |
