trm2 - yes indeed.... and I fully accept that much of this is probably 1-world problems
...but since many of the postings on FT are venting and/or complaining about stuff......
... nevertheless, attack away - we can use a spirited discussion in good fun.

TBH - I was ending up at #1 so frequently, I actually thought about posting and raising the question if there is some problem (intentional or not) with the algorithm in which everyone who does not get an upgrade is listed at #1 I know during boarding the monitors list the UG list and partial names - but I often wondered if the list I saw on my app was the same list that you saw on yours.....

From personal experience I can assure you that GS die at #1 as well.

When not upgraded, I usually take the top spot on the Full list.

Well, I think that this might be hurting UA in the long run (while earning them cash flow in the short term from the opportunists who UG at gate). I think UA made two changes simultaneously that are damaging for flyers like me (decreased PZ space and made their C fares more expensive than "competitors").

I wish to fly up front - esp internationally. I can do this with PZ space or by buying on the cheaper or better airline. UA is currently none of those three things and my flying patterns are drifting away from them. 24-year 1K here about to be One World equivalent Elite in 2023 - through paid C.

Oh well.

The thing is, the opportunists will always be there. I think UA has decided, in my view probably rightly, that getting ma and pa to fork up lots of dollars in adds ons and fees, and selling the front cabin at a discount to folks who will never ask anything of them after the flight is a profit maximizing strategy. Loyalty is dead, but had the airlines been pricing their most valuable real estate to sell a decade ago it would've been dead then too.
