New ways to fly across the Atlantic Effective June 5, 2018, United Airlines in line with Atlantic Joint Venture partners Air Canada and Lufthansa Group, will introduce a new fare option in select trans-Atlantic markets.
Created for our customers who may be more price-sensitive, these lowest-priced fares are the first step towards a Basic Economy product on trans-Atlantic United flights. The fare includes the same inflight experience as standard United Economy but with important restrictions that you'll want to review carefully before booking.

The fare includes the same inflight experience as standard United Economy but with important restrictions that you'll want to review carefully before booking.
What is the new fare option?
For customers traveling between the United States or Canada and select European countries in specific lower Economy booking classes, the new fare option will not include a complimentary first checked baggage allowance, upgrades or the ability to make changes following purchase.
Customers purchasing this fare for travel ticketed and operated on United will be eligible for advance seat assignments, one standard carry-on bag and one personal item, and the same United Economy cabin experience and services, including dining options, Wi-Fi for purchase and inflight entertainment.
What date is the fare option applicable?

.
How is the fare option identified?
For all Atlantic joint venture carriers, the last 3 characters of the fare basis code will be -LGT, and the fare type code is ERU/EOU.
For point of origin U. S. the fare is planned for booking classes K , L and T.
For point of origin E.U. and Canada, the fare is planned for booking classes K, L, T, S and W. Booking classes are subject to change and may vary by route.

On a BE TATL fare can I use my non-status UA MP account to accrue miles, then show another airline's *G card at check in to get a checked bag benefit?
By way of explanation - this is a bulk ticket, so miles earned on UA and another airline are the same. UA miles are a bit more valuable to me as a redemption.
I also do not want to end up in a middle E+ seat, as happened before when applying my *G, as a "favor" by UA. Based on the travel date, I expect E- to be fairly empty, and a better chance of getting an aisle seat there, perhaps together with my companion.
Alternatively, can I leave the *G on the reservation until check in, check the bag, and then swap back to MP number at the lounge or gate? Or will that strip me of *G benefits and thus not allowed?0

If the return flight from Europe is on a different airline, the UA Gold limits will not apply. Instead, the mother would get the standard allowance (zero) plus one bag at 23kg. I think it would be up to the operating airline whether or not to extend that to a non-status companion on the same PNR.
But, if the return flight is UA-operated, no worries; 2x32kg is correct.

SK and LX, for sure. AC seems to allow it still, and LH does too "as a special courtesy" only. You need to check the operator's website for baggage allowance because the future will be zero bags on a Light tariff regardless of status.

A flight was booked for me from Europe to Los Angeles via Toronto through an OTA (UA codes) in the cheapest possible fare - all flights except one are operated by LH or AC. Does anyone know what my status benefits as StarAlliance Gold are?
As far as I understood, United Basic Economy gives me:
- Checked Luggage x1
- Lounge access for international flights
- No seat reservation
while both LH and AC also provide the seat reservation. Do the rules of UA apply since all my flights are UA coded, or will I benefit from seat reservations, since the flights are operated by LH or AC?

Adding stopover to TATL BE first bag/no changes allowed
A while back, I picked up a roundtrip for DW and me SFO-CPH this fall, ridiculously priced at $398 per ticket in economy, K, but somehow preferred seat section. Two flights each way, and only United for the first, to ZRH.
We would like to have a stopover leaving for ORD a few days earlier, sticking with ZRH for the same day. Is this at all possible, do you think?
