EWR-HNL-EWR Cancelled Yesterday.
Today they are running 2 sections within 10 mins of eachother. The return UA14 (HNL-EWR) is delayed 7hrs for crew rest (sounds like the FAs are missing their day long layover in HI)

I'm sure this may have happened before, but it was a new one for me.

June 6, UA 310, MSY-IAD

Crew had overnighted at Hilton across from the airport, 3 minutes away. As boarding time approached, passengers started lining up about 5 minutes before. Crew had already boarded. About 10 minutes after boarding was to have started, GA makes an announcement that one of the FAs hadn't shown up yet and we can't board until she gets there.

A little while later, another announcement, they don't know where she is and are trying to get the hotel to help find her. About 10 minutes go by and they announce that they've found her and she is on the way from the hotel. A little more time goes by and they announce that they don't know where she is, but a local FA who was flying to IAD to work a TATL flight had volunteered to work this flight so that we could leave. We left a little over 50 minutes late.

The original FA was OK, but there were conflicting stories as to why she didn't show. She had not flown into MSY with the crew that was working this flight, she came in the night before on a different flight.

The volunteer FA was great. I hope they gave him credit for the flight that he was supposed to work.

Okay, so now where's the corresponding post in the international cancellations thread with an IAD TATL on June 6th being canceled due to crew rest

Good one, but since IAD is a Domicile, I'm sure it wasn't much of a problem to find a replacement.

need to be in SFO for 4th of July from BOS ?

Monday 07/03/17

UA351 BOS-SFO 16.23 departure delayed 16 hours & 07 minutes.

now scheduled to depart BOS at 8.30am on Tuesday 07/04/17

They made up some time in the air so it landed in SFO only 15 hours 53 minutes late, phew !

What is it with UA flights to EWR. Delays last week. Now UA 1504 pushed off on time, then delayed - for now they promise 40 minutes sitting in a hot plane (AC no workey until we take off, naturally).

Sorry for a rant, but every single time now...

ouch, that's a bad maintenance issue. Guess the crew ended up timing out. Had one of these earlier this year and we left around midnight.

I'm not sure if you saw, but there were thunderstorms in the area a few days last week which killed arrivals and departures at the NYC airports and PHL. I was trying to get out on Friday 6/30 right as a line formed to the west of the area, and as our pilot put it, every time a gap opened up, ATC had to decide which planes from BOS/JFK/EWR/LGA/PHL/etc would be allowed to takeoff through the limited routings available. From what I saw, EWR was running generally 3+ hour delays for domestic flights (with a few sporadic on times here and there).

While I'm sure 40 minutes sucked, I sat on 1893 on Fri night for 3 hours total (counting boarding time) before we returned to gate, with no real AC... it was getting bad to the point where I was sweating (not to mention the cabin started smelling).

UA1863: SFO ATC ground hold (07/05/17)

Sitting on the ground at LAX somewhere at the far western edge right now - best estimate is currently a 10:10 am departure even though we were supposed to get going at 8:30ish.

Groan.

July 10th SFO to HNL Flight 300 delayed 10 1/2 hours due to MX. You can fly to Hawaii and back in that amount of time. Fairly full load too - amazing that so many sucked it up and waited that long...
